Single barrel bourbons...I like Blanton's..but also sip AW Hirsch, and Knob Creek...

I like 1792 when I drink Bourbon, I drink it on ice. I also like some Canadian whiskey - Crown is my favorite, I generally drink it neat.

I've never drank anything with a flower in it. I never knew there was such a thing as edible flowers until a chef asked me to stock them for him. Even if it was edible, I don't get why I would eat it.

I have a bottle of 1792 Ridgemont right next to my Woodford Reserve (similar taste, but a little bold, and smoothness). Both are good sipping whiskey's.

The Knob Hill is a little raw in taste and a lot denser and at 100 proof, has more kick.

I use Knob Hill when I make a bourbon and branch for someone. Enough taste so that being cut with water still leaves you a nice bourbon taste.

I like Gentleman Jack (I don't drink enough anymore to delve in and try other brands.) I do like Patron and other upper grade Tequilas. Grey Goose is OK on occasion. But I must admit to liking some girly drinks, I love Margaritas (just made some a few nights ago, drinking by myself...sad) and really like Pina Coladas. I have had a bad habit of having 3-Ways over the years...Jack, Beer (real...not light), and girly drinks. (And this generally means I am not eating if Jack is in the line-up.)

And as for the Big East, what a joke! The map showing the new Big East locations should be Defense Exhibit A if they make it to court! (Especially if they go to court in Rhode Island, which the Big East proclaims to be more proper than West Virginia. Showing their math skills are on par with their geography skills.)

What's crazy is all of these schools are scrambling to get into an automatic BCS qualifying conference...however, the BCS contract is up in a couple of years and from what I have read the whole system is likely to change. One of the changes may be to use the BCS to select #1 vs #2 and nothing more. The current bowls that are considered BCS bowls would just go back to picking teams the way they did before the BCS was created. Where would that leave these schools joining the Big East (I tell you...right in the situation they are currently in)...except having to travel 2 or 3 thousand miles for road games. Just crazy!

The Big East site announced Boise State & San Diego State as football only members. Houston, SMU, UCF as members in all sports. Yet to be resolved is when they are in? The BE officials still want to hold Syracuse, Pitt and WVA to the 27 month  withdrawal period.

With 5 new teams, 3 unhappy ones it should make scheduling interesting if not moot. As changes in the BCS might come before schedules can even be started.

Exactly. I do think the BCS may go to the "Plus One" as they call there 4 team playoff and then let all the other bowls alone. I think that would be better than it is today.

When this happens and the automatic AQ goes away, I would guess Boise State and others will either go independent or form conferences in their immediate geography.

I think the plus one is coming too. At first the bowls won't be affected. It is the beginning of the end for the bowls . No way to stop it.

Agreed, I'm already seeing the media jumping back on the Plus One talk, and you know they'll be hammering it all month. As it would fix the specific problem of the day, they'll ride a quick wave of public support into it.

As for what comes afterward... I don't know... Really the Plus One is just a band-aid of a compromise that will please nobody long term. Playoff guys almost universally want more than four teams in the playoff. Bowl game loyalists just see it as another step away from tradition. And it only treats the symptoms rather than the cause for most of the issues people have with the BCS.

I thought this BCS system would be good when it first came along. Then they took a decent idea and turned it into a horrible practice. I don't see the plus one being better. On the surface it seems like an ok idea, but they will take lemons and make muddy water with them.

Regardless of the immediate future, I see only a few of the weaker bowls being abandoned. Too much money; and, fans like a trip -- especially south at the end of the season for some fun as well as a football game. Unless we see a playoff system better than any proposals I've seen it is another "band-aid" (as some have noted); and, in the end after the fat guys are done with the arrangements, it will please no one.

Best thing I liked about the BCS was it shut the NCAA out.

have fun, Swamp Daddy

Some further rumors from the Big East. Reportedly there is interest in adding Memphis and Temple back in as all sports members.

I am pretty sure Memphis really wants to go to Boise in December to play in 15 degree weather. And the plane trip when you fly diagonally in the states, from South to Northwest is so exhilarating.

Yeah but Memphis has blue uniforms, so you may not be able to see them play.
