Re: Stupid
If I were a Buckeye fan I would want him gone. I can't believe Ohio State lets him or the athletic director even step foot on campus anymore.
Every time Tressel speaks about this subject his story changes. It just blows my mind that this guy has a job at Ohio State. He still has a job for one reason only....his teams win. We are fooling ourselves if the schools care about anything else other than winning....because winning gets people in the seats, sells merchandise, gets big donations from boosters, and makes lots of money for the school.
It is more than just not reporting and covering up. Tressel then coerced these young men into signing statements that they can not play in the Sugar Bowl if they do not promise to come back next season. The lie and cover up is bad but manipulating these young men is worse. What kind of values does this teach these young men? I am sure he stands in front of these young men and preaches to them about honesty, responsibility, and accountability....now those sermons mean nothing.
I love coach Petrino as the Arkansas coach. But if he was found tomorrow breaking the rules, covering up violations (no matter how big or small you think they are), and potentially damaging the university, then I would want him dismissed immediately.
Just my two cents...and I am not sure it's worth that much.

"A team with something to play for is dangerous, but a team with someone to play for is unstoppable..." Arkansas OL Brey Cook quote following the death of teammate Garrett Uekman (Nov. 2011).

More stupidness.....
We all know Auburn is dirty (and now Ohio State)....more stuff coming out....are the ex players lying? Or does the NCAA need to haul them in under oath and take depositions?

You know? I think that the media enticed these guys to make up some good selling stuff.
While it does have the ring of truth to it, there seems to be not a lot of corraboration.

It doesn't say the school hooked him up with girls, it says some players did. I'm not saying that is right, but many schools use girls to "host" recruiting trips. If Tressel or his staff was involved, though, then I would agree he should go.
It did say McClover recieved money from more schools than just Ohio State and Auburn so the problem is much deeper than just a couple schools. Again, not excusing those schools, because they all know the rules.

It wouldn't surprise me if that sort of thing went on, whether it is true or not in this case. It would surprise me if the school (coaches, AD, or other administration) were envolved. If that is the case either or both schools should be hammered by the NCAA.

Schools have used co-eds for years to act as hostesses for players visiting the school. I find it hard to believe that any school would tolerate misconduct such as implied. HBO and ESPN are not exactly the sources of light and truth.

We agree completely on this. I don't have a tatoo and could care less about ever having one, I am all in on the other.

At this point nothing would surprise me, but if what McClover says is true, I hope the NCAA airs it all out now - as far as Ohio State is concerned. If that stuff is happening, then we need to take our medicine and get through this. I also think Tressel, Smith, and Gee should be fired if this is true. I would rather have 10 losing seasons in a row as have the dept. be this kind of corrupt. Tressel broke the rules and should be punished, but his was a crime of omission. His wrong doing consisted of keeping quite. Not good, but if he is actively cheating - then that is a very different thing the way I look at things. I don't condone what he did, but I would be lots more troubled if he were involved as an active participate in the crime.

Past the NCAA statute of limitation...the NCAA has no interest.

There shouldn't be a statue of limitation while the offender still has a job.

Zing!!
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Re: Stupid
Soooo...
Out on the left coast with Donovan, I guess folks listen to NPR call the games rather than ESPN.
"Another run off tackle for four yards. Sally, doesn't the use of this play risk head or spinal injury to these student athletes?".
"Right Ira, a play that brutally pits the health of young men against the winning desires of an avaricious coach."

We do, "All things being Considered."
I think you would fit right end, Mr. Billybud...you have the jargon down.
