Mack Brown

He kept it classy. Even his resignation was awesome.

When asked if he could change one thing, what would it be. His response, have Cole Pittman back, and that the bonfire never happened.

He did. The school admins could learn a few things from him.

So, can we hire the Senator? Or still have to wait a few years?

Two years until he is free. I would go after his disciple - Mark Dantonio, if I were Texas. Dino would rock the B12. I'm not sure coach Tress will ever coach again. He will likely be the next president at Akron. I think he would rather manage from that level and I think he would be good at it. There is a bit of a coaching drought right now. Too many read option disciples out there.

Totally agree. Mack Brown oversaw a clean program and exited with grace. He can be proud of his accomplishments and should look backwards with no regrets.

Maybe he can serve as Lou Holtz's interpreter!

He said all the right things for so long, I'd love to see he what kind of personality he actually has as a TV personality.

I hear JT now and he is a little less guarded, but his nickname still applies. I think once you have done it so long it just becomes second nature.

Good call! I wonder if he is even on Texas' radar.

They keep going after high-profile guys that they have next to no chance of luring in like Kelly and Harbaugh from the NFL. With the level of pay, not having to deal with recruiting, and the success that those two guys are having at that level, there is no way they would leave for college again. They'll make their pro money, get fired eventually for going 8-8 in a few years, and then they'll land a huge college job.

Can't hurt to try I suppose, but you always wind up with an egg on your face if they turn you down.

I think there is a secret coaches school that is solely for media interviews. Among other sayings, never to deviate are:

“We have to take it one game at a time.”

"We just need to play Buckeye football.

“The other team just wanted it more.”

“They left it all on the field.”

“He’s deceptively quick.”

“Ït was a hard hit and he will feel that one in the morning.”

“They are better than their record indicates.”

“They have a motor that won’t quit.”

“He really gives 110 percent.”

“There seemed to be a miscommunication on that play.”

“We have to play a full 60 minutes.”

“Winston would like to have that one back.”

“They have to take care of the football.”

“This Bulldogs defense is going to ‘pin their ears back’ in the second half.”

“He has a quick first step.”

“The Tide's defense bends but doesn’t break.”

“Manziel QB is a real gunslinger.”

“Masons is a downhill runner.”

“McCarron has all day to throw it.”

“That guy’s a throwback.”

You have a lot of them. My favorite is from Chris Spielman "That was a slobberknocker"

"We need to run the football"

"We need to play better football in the second half"

You don't say?

"He has a big arm"

"He is so agile & elusive out there"

"They weren't on the same page"

"He didn't even see him"

"As the safety, you can't let a receiver get behind you like that"

"Take a look at him, as he watches the quarterback's eyes, and bates him to throw the ball in his direction"

"He just tried to force that one in there"

"He seems to have happy feet right now, and is trying to do too much with his legs"

"Let's see what the call on the field is"

"Don't forget, every play is reviewable"

"It looks like they're gonna take a closer look at this one"

"Now remember, it has to be indisputable video evidence"

"I don't know, they must have seen something we didn't see, because from up here it looked like"

"They're gonna have to redefine what the rule is"

"They can overrule the ejection, but the penalty will stand, so they will still get the 15 yards"

"That penalty was costly"

"That one will really hurt them"

"They need a big play to get back in it"

(and let's not forget Donovan's favorite)

"As long as they take care of business, and they win like they should"

.

.

.

Does that job come with a plastic screen for your face?

That was mean....I'm sorry. :(
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.
