2016 Schedules
Boise State announced their schedule for 2016, 12 games. This is a run the table schedule and then you may get into the top 25. Nothing wrong with that. I think this is what they should be doing, obviously the other approach did not work. There are some good games here, however.

Re: 2016 Schedules
Wow, just looking at that schedule, Boise State only has a stretch of 2 at home games in a row. They almost all read "at" then "vs" then "at" then "vs". Is this typical? Oregon's schedule is about the same. Maybe I just never noticed it before.
Re: 2016 Schedules
Interesting observation. I am not sure. Some of these games are multi-year agreements, Oregon State, Washington and BYU. Maybe if falls that way this year. Hawaii is a "free" game if you go there and there is some great history between the two.

If you look to the right..the game location is listed...I count six at Boise.

An even more keen power of observation. Schedules are extremely important in the quest for national recognition. Schedules have games that were made 4, 5, or even longer ago. With the advent of the Power 5 and the realization that all the other schools will be relegated to their rightful proletarian position scheduling may change. When only the Power 5 are relevant to college football, all the others will find something else, perhaps new divisions. Without sounding too cynical, ESPN will decide. TV's popularity can not exist with just Power 5 games. As with all digressions, I watched coverage of Pete Weber winning a bowling tournament. I watched his dad, Dick Weber. Whatever happened to Carmen Salvino and Johnny King, who always had a big stogie in his mouth when he bowled?

Also note, that Boise will start the season on the road, and end it on the road.
It's nice to see that Washington St is maintaining their sense of self, and not getting a big head, asking for their games with Boise to only be played @ Provo .. as we all know, some schools won't travel top smaller program venues to play (heh-hem, gators, mgh-mghm).
I like that this series with the Cougars continues to be home & home.
I notice also, that Boise did the smart thing, and stayed within their region. No reason to trot around the country looking for recognition you won't receive from the media, when you can simply get a solid foothold in your own backyard.

Re: 2016 Schedules
The economics dictate home games against the cupcakes...a home game is worth about $2.5 million to a program so buying a visit from a non P5 team for $700,000- $1 million is a good buy.
And it is a source of income for the visiting team as well.
FSU will be playing Alabama at a neutral site in 2017 (Orlando)..and gets $5 million for doing so as does Bama...it is $$$ in the bank. Ole Miss and FSU will open this season in Orlando for $3.5 million.
I was mildly surprised to see the Canes playing at Appy State this year....I learned that it was a H&H and that Miami has four home and home scheduled with non P5 teams. FSU has H&H's inked with Boise and USF.

Re: 2016 Schedules
Yes, and I respect that fsu has also done the same with BYU...
The lizards on the other hand, won't play anyone out of conference outside of the region. They refuse to even schedule Home & Home against P5 programs North or West.
In fact, the furthest we'll see the swamprats play from home, will be when they play @ College Station, in a year where the home game is for Texas A&M.

That just seems crazy to me. I know there's no real sense in taking too big a risk if you're a program like Florida or some of the other SEC teams, but a challenge once in a blue moon is not the end of the world. I remember Georgia playing a road game against Arizona State, and they made it out okay. LSU went up to Washington a handful of seasons ago, and they are set to take on Wisconsin at Lambeau this year. I'd love to see Florida get a home-and-home done with a team like USC or Nebraska, how cool would that be?

All of the great scheduling will not come back until the "just don't lose" philosophy is replaced with "just win!" NCAAFB gives out participation ribbons.

Re: 2016 Schedules
When coaches get fired from multi million per year jobs because they only won nine games (Nebraska)...or only ten games (Mark Richt at Georgia won 10 games his last two years) or like LSU's Les Miles was on the on hot seat for only winning 8 games, after two years of 13 and 10 wins....
Do you expect them to really want to add a possible loss over a probable win?

No I don't, nor do I expect honesty to come back to collegiate athletics. There is a place for Country Club golf and for putt-putt, Macy's has its place and so does the dollar store, room for Ford and Cadillac. The difference is these entities recognize the difference and the different appeals. The NCAA does not represent anyone by large schools. Figure out a way to cut all of us lose and the Power 5 can do whatever they want. I shall now go to lunch at Denny's because I cannot afford Ruth Chris Steakhouse.

The non P5 have been cut loose...
If they weren't all clamoring to get in (BYU, Houston, Cincinnati, UConn, UCF...and on and on), you'd think that they would be happy being in another tier....heck, just go back to FCS and take pride in being less of a football factory.
FCS is calling...if only more teams would hear the sweet song.

You are right. The BYU, BSU and all the other plebeian U's want to be like the elite. Maybe they should just recognize if you are ugly, you won't get asked to the Prom. And then maybe they will some day not allow the patricians to be the lexicographers.
