ND is the most entitled school out there.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

It's ND's endowment ...

They literally do not need the money that comes from TV revenue markets. If they had, they would've join a conference decades ago.

If they had been a full member of the Big East, they would have made more money than their deal with NBC. So, the ACC gave ND a similar deal.

For ND, they are more interested in the shared research institutions enjoy being affiliated by conference. ND is a Catholic School, and they have ties directly to the ACC with Boston College.

That being said; ND's $21 Billion endowment prevents them from being driven by Network Dollars.

Not sure not being motivated by TV money is a bad thing. I just don't like ND.

I agree ...

I do not have any Love for Notre Dame.

But I respect their turning down $100 million in TV revenue, to maintain a $15 million deal [which is what they are getting from NBC].

Notre Dame tipped their hand when they kinda, sorta joined the ACC……. What they want is access and a path to the National Championship Tournaments, Playoffs or whatever they’re called. And as long as those events are Selection Committee driven as opposed to Conference Champion qualifiers only, they’re good with it.

My $0.02 worth……. 8)

Notre Dame wants to have their cake and eat it too. But I guess so does everyone else.

-------------------------------------------------------------

A lot of talk about the future of the ACC going forward has been surfacing lately, too ...

Potential Interests from the SEC in teams such as, fsu, Clemson, North Carolina and Virginia have entered the conversation.
[though, I'm not certain if So Carolina and flurdah still hold their veto power against state programs]
{bet A&M wishes they would have negotiated one of those veto vote for themselves right about now}

It feels as though the SEC seems to be holding at 16, for now; Unless the Big 10 were to make a move to expand further [say, adding Notre Dame]

Certain programs, with East Coast markets have also been brought up, as Big 10 targets.

One team, who has been left outside of all these conversations, is Miami.

If Notre Dame wants to maintain their independence, and the ACC gets raided; Miami would be a fantastic second for the NBC venture, along side the Big XII.

$75 million is more than what the ACC teams are getting. Truly, it's about a 3rd of the value per team, as the new SEC deal.

An ACC breakup, with NBC floating out there, could in fact create a group of value Independents with vast TV markets. Ga Tech, for example, is in Atlanta. Virginia Tech brings in solid ratings, and seeing as how general broadcasting has gotten away from the prototypical weekly model, in favor of "Reality" shows; it wouldn't be that far of a stretch to believe NBC would put a couple of Va Tech Home Games into their Thursday Night lineup. Which would crush their competition ratings, unless FOX or ABC would respond by putting on a Thursday Game of the Week of their own.

I certainly don't think "Dalliance with the Super Novas" could hold its own vs a Thursday Night clash in Blacksburg.

I liked Blacksburg....nice football town.

I also enjoyed visiting at Virginia, UNC, Wake....Miami at the Rock..not so much (way too familiar with the area to vacation)..nor GT in Atlanta...enjoyed the atmosphere at Clemson although we stayed down the road in Anderson...We have stayed a week in Clemson visiting our son. Back in the day, his athletic dorm room was more prison cell shaped ...9 feet by 12...I assume they are palatial now.

We have fond memories of football travel...our first out of town trip together was to the 1980 Orange Bowl...we have travelled to Ohio State, Notre Dame, Nebraska, LSU, Auburn, Peach, Gator and Sugar Bowls among others.

Now...it is the big screen TV...
