UNLV fired football Head Coach Marcus Arroyo.
Not sure about this one.
Arroyo has been their Head Coach for 3 seasons, taking over during the Covid year.
UNLV's records under him,have been:
2020 -- O-6
2021 -- 2-10
2022 -- 5-7
This past weekend, UNLV snapped a 6 game losing streak to in state rival, Nevada.
Although being a Mountain West team; UNLV beat North Texas 58-27 earlier this season; and the Mean Green are #2 in CUSA, as they are set play Texas San Antonio for their Conference Championship this upcoming Friday.
Arroyo looked to have had the team going in the right direction.
This doesn't appear to be a misconduct thing, either ---
UNLV athletic director Erick Harper:
"We thank Marcus Arroyo for his unwavering efforts leading our student-athletes on and off the field for these three seasons. His program represented this institution in the community and classroom in a manner that is to be commended. However, with our increased expectations at UNLV we felt a change was in order."
This is what happens when the world of instant gratification takes over the mindset.
Now, you have to replace a guy, in time to scrape up what they can to salvage a recruiting class, while being faced with who might be ready to step away through the portal by this decision.
Maybe UNLV could use a guy like Gee to straighten things out.
