Top 25

Postby Spence » Thu Jul 13, 2006 7:18 am

Would anyone else, who hasn't signed up, like to be a part of the top 25 voting groups. Anyone who isn't signed up can do so on this thread or can PM me. Anyone who wishes to be a part of it may do it. I will add you to a group right away. This is going to be starting pretty soon so if you want to sign up, let me know. Thanks, Spence.

Top 25 voting groups?

Couple of questions.

1.) Am I assuming correctly if I take this to mean voting teams into the top 25 rankings by comparing group percentages based on each individual participants configuration?

Example:

Group 1's percentage votes Texas #1
Group 2's percentage votes Texas #1
Group 3's percentage votes Texas #2

Hence the highest percentage says Texas is #1.

2.) Where do we vote when the time comes?

Something like that, Cane. Every groups vote counts as one vote.

We are starting it out that way to keep it from being a popularity contest. After this year, I think it will evolve into something where everyone in the groups will have their own vote. We want to get the voters to look past their personal bias' and try to see how well we do compared to how the season actually turns out. If it works we will continue to do it, but if it ends up being "who is my favorite team" I dodn't think it will last long.

I am putting you in, but I haven't decided your group yet. I'm trying to get people from different conferences in groups together, so the debate over the group's top 25 is a good one.

That's OK because no one else does either. We haven't ever done this before. I will decide on groups and get you in. Check this thread later on and I will post the groups.

On a side note........How is your Grampa. I haven't seen Howdy on in a while and was wondering about him.

WVU, you are in Lubbockhasnotrees' group, with derek. An B-12 guy, a SEC guy, and a B-East guy should make for an interesting group.

I'm having a hard time keeping the West Virginia guys in different groups, too many more and they will have a voting block.

With most schools football camps starting in about three weeks, I would like all the members of the top 25 voting groups to begin thinking about their top 25. Not only who they want in the top 25, but why. When the group debates start, "why" will be very important.

Don't let this be about schools you like or hate. Try to be as objective as you can. Don't put your favorite team in just because you are a fan, and don't leave them out if you believe there is a good reason for them being there.

Anything info about your team or any other team that you want to share would help everyone. Put it in the preview thread at the top. Please take this seriously, like it really counts. If this goes well this year, maybe we can open up the vote, so every member of the groups has their own vote. If we take this seriously we can learn some of the things that the voters go through when ranking teams. We can also match wits with the computers (which take a lot of heat) and see how well we do compared to them. Especially the preseason poll.

This should be fun and should open some eyes to the strength of some other conferences.

Group Leaders: Use the opinions of your members when posting the group T25. Be open minded to their opinions. Have some very honest debate over the issues and concerns.

If we start forming our initial opinions now and remain open minded about them later, The preseason poll should go pretty well. Thanks, Spence
