#12 Ark vs #6 Auburn

Postby Dossenator » Sun Oct 10, 2010 10:51 pm

Well...Ark has won 3 of the last 4 meetings and have beat Auburn the last two times they played in Auburn. Auburn won last years game by 21 points.

Last weeks game for both teams:
Ark struggled with penalties (13 for 105 yards) and beat Texas A&M by a TD.
Auburn played well on offense but the defense struggled...Auburn had to drive the field for a game winning field goal to beat Kentucky by 3.

This has become a decent rivalry game....their has been no home field advantage in this series.

Key stats:
Hogs rank top 20 nationally in pass defense and points allowed. Auburn ranks 80 something in pass defense.

I am looking forward to this game. If Ark does not shoot themselves in the foot with stupid penalties I think they win this game by 10 points.

Last year Tommy Tubberville predicted Auburn would win by 21 points....the Hogs won by 21....here's hoping for another great prediction by Tubby (I guess he won't since he is a coach again).

What's everyone's thoughts?

I have found a good contrary indicator when 2 teams pass the ball well. Who has the Run advantage...Ark's Roff-v-Aub's Rdef and vice-versa.

Ark ranks 15 nationally against pass and 37th nationally against the run.
Ark ranks 13th nationally in total defense.

Auburn ranks 98th nationally against the pass and 24th nationally against the run.
Auburn ranks 47th nationally in total defense.

I think I got that right...all from rivals site. It puts everything in order but does not put numbers to the left so you have to count and 98 is a big number. :D

24th against the run is pretty good.

Ark will have to smartly decide when to run and Mallett can't be winging things. (They really need to get more short game routes....long hand-offs!)

I agree. The opening Vegas line was Auburn -3.

I hope Ark can pull this one out, since I don't really care much for Auburn, but I think Auburn will take this one.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I can put my prediction in. Seeing how I am about 0-10 which one of you guys want me to jinx the side?

P.S. I take money! :)
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

Vegas line is now -2 1/2 Auburn. Auburn does not even get a field goal advantage on their home field and being unbeaten.

All it takes to win and earn that W is 1 point.
Win or Lose - IT'S HOW YOU HYPE THE OUTCOME! BCS logic: When teams in the AQ conferences lose, it shows how tough those conferences are; when teams in non-AQ conferences lose, it is weakness.

We don't have anything to do with the CCR top 120.

All I have to say is that Ark has won 3 of the last 4 against Auburn and won the last two times they played them in Auburn (Auburn I believe was favored in every one of those games...4 years ago Auburn was ranked #2 and Ark creamed them in Auburn).

Last year Auburn was undefeated and came to Fayetteville....Ark jumped out to a 34-3 lead and won by 21 points. I know this is a new year but for some reason Ark seems to always play Auburn well....especially in Auburn lately.

I think this Hogs team is ready to play this week. Not an easy win like last year but I think Arkansas pulls this one out.

Wow statistical Overload. You can pour over the stats all you want but in the end there can be only one, and this time it's Arkansas.

As long as Arkansas plays contain on Newton and makes him throw I don't see why they wouldn't walk away with this one.
