If it was up to the BCS computers only....

Postby billybud » Mon Oct 11, 2010 12:24 pm

If there were no human voters, just the computers...the top ten would look something like this:

1....LSU
2...Oklahoma
3...Boise State
4...TCU
5...Auburn
6...Oregon
7...Michigan State
8...Nebraska
9t..Alabama
9t..Ohio State

I think the computers should have more influence.

Oops..I was wrong..was on Total Column....look at the individual computer columns...

Computers only might have Boise at somewhere between 21-25...TCU between 22-24.....and FSU between 6 and 12.

Now, I could live with that...bring on computers only (but only the algorithmns I like)...LOL

They may be right. Problem is that neither he humans or the computers have enough info to know.

That has something to do with it, of course, but as ..fanatic wrote a few posts ago, not as much as well might think. I think the bigger schools get more press - which can be good or bad - but it usually gets their name out their.

I am in favor of the Computers having more weight than the human polls. I would be happy with 2/3rds computer.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

How many teams (currently) could go on the road and beat Florida? LSU may be only one of a handful...

Florida still has lots of athletes, but they are no where near the same team that played the last four or five years.

A computer is only as good as its software.

Software is written by human programmers.

Every human has a bias. The variables inherent within any software program are a reflection of the bias of the programmer.

Pay a programmer a high enough fee and they can program in any results you seek.

Therefore I agree with Donovan. Cash Registers rule and everything else drools 8)

The "early season vs late season" bias will also hide a lot.

Most teams play almost exclusively within conference during the late season....and without cross conference reference points, Hampton looks really tough playing Delaware State.

Of course, it is humans that are setting up the computers, as to how the results should be obtained.

There is a great deception, I think, regarding computer programing. The mere fact "fuzzy logic" is being used to simulate AI and make it more human like is a tacit admission that in many instances "crisp logic" is left wanting. My "not having it given much thought" is, most programmers I know have little understanding how "normal" people reason.
