Texas vs #5 Nebraska

Postby Yeofoot » Mon Oct 11, 2010 2:15 pm

Can Texas magically find an offense and win this thing?

Texas is 9-1 against Nebraska in the Big 12, but I don't feel good about this week...

It is going to be tough. Texas has the players to win. They are like Ohio State, though, they need to find a running game.

I think they may be able to do so. This becomes a mental issue. When there is all this hype about a National Championship and you think you may be out of the running....I don't personally believe they should be...you get your dauber down, it become difficult, especially when your opponent is living with the visions of grandeur.

Good test for Nebraska. They should win; 10 point favorite seems about right. Nevertheless, I have seen them start slow against some teams - Idaho, South Dakota St. They'll have to make sure not to let Texas gain an advantage in the 1st quarter. Otherwise the emotion of the rivalry game may overtake the basic reasons that Nebraska is the better team.

Texas has two losses...you don't think they are out of the NC picture Donovan.

As for the game, I think if Texas can find a running game and if they can bottle up Martinez and make him beat you with his arm then Texas has a shot.

They're Texas. A two loss Texas will go ahead of a no loss Boise or TCU.

I don't see Texas having much more than a punchers chance. This is not a game to find the the rhythm to turn a season around. It could however be a pull-out win that defines a season and helps you get everything set right-side up.

Hey, Don't Mess with Texas!
Win or Lose - IT'S HOW YOU HYPE THE OUTCOME! BCS logic: When teams in the AQ conferences lose, it shows how tough those conferences are; when teams in non-AQ conferences lose, it is weakness.

I think emotions will be running high on both sides. Hopefully Texas plays under control, Texas' stupid penalties on 3rd downs led to 3 OU touchdowns.

Gilbert is set up to be a pocket passer, and he has all the weapons in the world to throw to. I truly (want to) believe that Texas has the potential to just "click" and roll through the rest of the schedule. Unfortunately, no one, offense or defense has stepped up with the "it" factor.

I just hope the hospital has ESPN if my wife goes into labor on Saturday. And yes, this will be the first Texas game in a long time I'll be sober for...gotta be able to drive to the hospital at a moment's notice!

Good luck Saturday - especially with the non game related issues. Most hospitals I've had experience with have ESPN. My niece was born on a football Saturday, I was there for the whole thing and never missed a down.
