Congrats to everyone that participated. Let's hope we can all be as "detached" as the season rolls along.

That is the key. We will have some good debates on it as we go along, that is for sure.

Unfortunately, it matches up too much with the AP and Coaches Polls for my liking.

Here are our rankings, and the rankings of the AP and Coaches Polls

1. Texas (3 AP, 2 Coaches)
2. Ohio State (1, 1)
3. West Virginia (5, 7)
4. Southern California (6, 3)
5. Notre Dame (2, 3)
6. Louisiana State (8, 9)
7. Auburn (4, 6)
8. Oklahoma (10, 5)
9. Louisville (13, 13)
10. Florida (7, 8 )
11. Florida State (11, 10)
12. Miami Fl. (12, 11)
13. Georgia (15,1 4)
14. California (9, 12)
15. Virginia Tech (17, 16)
16. Michigan (14, 15)
17. Texas Christian (22, 21)
18. Iowa (16, 17)
19. Clemson (18, 18 )
20. Penn State (19, 19)
21. Nebraska (20, 22)

Off by an average of 2.16 from the AP.

Off by an average of 1.88 from the Coaches.

//

Their Rank - Our Rank = Total Difference
Total Difference / 25 = Average Variation

//

However, we do have some key differences.

Texas as #1.
WVU as #3.
Louisville as #9.
TCU as #17.

I think the fact there are some 'differences' is actually a testament to our 'talent' as a group. We are clearly doing something right, and whatever it is, I hope it continues. I think giving Texas the 'nod' is fair, based on how they played, as a team, last season.
W.Va I think is likely a very good team, as is Louisville. I don't have to elaborate on TCU do I?
My compliments to all, for all your hard work, and I for one would like to say 'thank you', let's hope it continues, throughout the year! (our insight).

Well, that confirms what we've been fussing about .... there goes the creditability of both the AP and the Coaches Polls ... how could those guys be so far off?

On the top 25 that you post, could you do the parenthesis for 1st place votes?

BTW, I really didn't think Texas would be #1 on here, if we go all the way, we get to say that CFP knew it first.

OK, here are the #1 votes received

Texas – (5)
Ohio St – (3)
LSU – (1)
USC – (1)

I'm working on a way right now to have it automatically do this every week. Until then I have to hand count.

It is hard not to have a poll that resembles the human polls. We all get most of our information the same way. Except for some differences in our own conferences that we know first hand.
