Who Do You Guys Like on Friday?

Postby Eric » Wed Nov 24, 2010 4:10 am

And while I'm here, I guess I should note that I will 100% assuredly have an updated leaderboard by tomorrow. I've got it totaled up all the way to this week, but since it's 3 AM I was going to take a break and give it to you guys tomorrow

Anyway, here's like my faux-picks for the pre-Saturday games. The Friday after Thanksgiving is literally my favorite football day of the year outside of New Year's Day. I'd like to see what you guys will pick for Friday as well (just for fun, it has nothing to do with the scores).

First of all...I am upset that they took the Ark vs LSU game away from Friday and put it on Sat. (it had become a tradition for me...Friday was the game for The Boot Trophy). On a side note: Les Miles said that The Boot Trophy reminded him of his state (boy he's a genius....it's the shape of Louisiana and Arkansas). I hope Les Miles tries to eat the grass in War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock...it's artificial...but I doubt he is smart enough to know the difference. They replaced it with the Auburn vs Bama game (the contract is up after next year and they might bring back the Ark vs LSU game on Friday).

Ok...here's my picks:
1. Louisville
2. Ohio
3. West Virginia
4. Northern Illinois
5. SMU
6. Western Michigan
7. Buffalo at Akron
8. Toledo
9. Auburn
10. Nebraska
11. Arizona State
12. Southern Miss
13. Oregon
14. Nevada

1. Louisville at Rutgers , This game could go either way; neither team looks very impressive this year.

2. Ohio , They have turned the corner, and started playing rather tough in conference.

3. West Virginia at Pittsburgh , ah, the Backyard Brawl, one of Thanksgiving weekend's classics ; this year, both of these teams look good enough to win it, difficult to choose between the two, so ... ... ...

4. Northern Illinois , The huskies wrap up an undefeated MAC season with this win; also, they are playing sound-ball, hard to go against a team who's got as much momentum as these guys do right now.

5. SMU at ECU , Honestly, I do not know whether it is because I simply don't know enough about either of these teams, or if it is because I do not care enough about either of these teams ... I guess I'll just say, smu.

6. Western Michigan at Bowling Green , Odd thing here; Bowling Green has looked very poor this year, and then turned around looking otherwise solid, only to turn back around to look less-than-average. It all depends on which Falcons team shows up, so, I'll just go with them.

7. Buffalo at Akron , Could either team really take something home with a win here, and say they got something positive out-of the season? I dunno; Buffalo :?:

8. Central Michigan at Toledo , Central Michigan fell apart earlier this year, and hasn't really picked up the pieces ... it is @ Toledo, so, if the Rockets get out to a quick jump, they could have a little more left in the tank should this one be close coming down the stretch ... I'll take Toledo.

9. Auburn at Alabama , Auburn; when the cards are pulled at the right time, you come up with the better hand ... was a very close game just a year ago "without" Cam Newton ... with him, I think the Tigers have an advantage ... he is still playing, isn't he? Or is he?

10. Colorado at Nebraska , heh, the fairwell game; it's @ Nebraska, and Colorado is Colorado, so ... Nebraska will win.

11. Arizona State , UCLA has had trouble keeping their players healthy.

12. Southern Miss , I suppose.

13. Oregon , the Wildcats will not be able to handle the Eugene crowd.

14. Boise State , I don't think anybody has to interject anything here.
