He has always been one of my favorites!

They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

It is just a few fans but they are the most vocal idiots. They have been hammering him for several years. Herby tries very hard not to come across as showing favoritism to Ohio State and lots of times it goes the other way. Also the fact that he and Tressel don't get along doesn't help. I think for the most part, Herby is objective and I think he and Corso work well together.

And here, we all believe that Herbie is a OSU homer and we don't like Corso (who I'll bet folks think is an FSU homer).

Back from Daytona...smaller, quieter crowd this year. Even the rooms were less expensive.

I don't get FSU homer from Corso. He is one of my favorites. The big rub in Ohio with Herbie was this year after the bowl win with Arkansas, Herby dropped Ohio State in his final poll. He dropped Akansas the same amount of spots for losing as he dropped Ohio State for winning. It ticked a bunch of people off. Didn't really bother me because if your not first, I don't think it really matters, but many got really vocal in the last couple months. His kids were probably hearing about it in school (which is wrong). ESPN was a different animal when it comes to B-10 coverage now than a few years ago. ESPN doesn't have the deal with the B-10 like it used to be so the B-10 gets less love on the network. That is his employer so he does his job and some people here do not like it.

I always liked Herbie because of his sense of humor. One of my favorite commercials was having hogs (razorbacks) sniffing his shoes a couple of years ago. Some guys might not like to have that done.

Some Buckeye fans are overly sensitive about their team. Herby doesn't work for Ohio State, he works for ESPN and so he must do the job they pay him to do. That is what he does and some Buckeye fans hate him for that. Pretty silly, but it is what it is.

I think he did typically overcompensate on-air by taking "the other side of the argument," which was being critical of Ohio State.

But, I don't think it would've hurt his career at all to be a little more like Lou Holtz and root for your team.

Gotta say though, it was always adorable when GameDay was in Columbus and all his sons were crawling around everywhere in OSU gear.

There's no commentator I respect more than Herbstreit. I know if Herbstreit says something I should pay attention because he's usually spot on. He's pro VT so that might be my bias a little but when it comes to analysis I listen to what he has to say because he's got good instincts and his reviews are usually unbias'ed and straight forward.

If I have a perception that is counter to his it usually makes me review my perception because he's usually right on or very close. Much respect. Sorry some militant pariahs couldn't see that.
