Before I head out to the game..FSU-Oklahoma

Postby billybud » Sat Sep 17, 2011 7:48 am

Oklahoma has the strongest team and I expect them to win by 10 to 14.

FSU's defense will be better this year but the Sooners have so much offensive talent with Landry Jones at QB and Broyles catching passes and, in case they want to run, some good RB's. It will be a good game, I hope, and maybe if the Noles can not turn the ball over and catch a few breaks, they can keep it close.

The Oklahoma DB's, who call themselves the sharks, and FSU's DB's will set the tone of this game. I would feel better if FSU's most experienced WR (Haulstead) wasn't out with a concussion and the catch leader (Reed) hadn't been out of practice all week with a boot on. Watch for EJ Manuel to roll out more, play a few option plays, and read plays. He was a straight pocket passer in the two warm up games, but I expect the offense was kept vanilla and tonight may be a little different. The same five or six plays were played over and over again in the first two games.

Landry will play shotgun and three step drop so the FSU D won't get to him but maybe they can hurry him a little. I do not expect the Sooners to put up big yards rushing.

This game will be decided in the air.

Oklahoma has a great offense, they barely play defense at all. I fully expect Florida State to win this game.

I am with Spence....I think FS wins.

Should be a great game. I see FSU winning. Nothng beats being there in person especially if you win. Downside is you miss a lot of other TV games!
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

I couldn't decide if FSU offensive line was confused or if Oklahoma defensive line was good. What I can tell you is ESPN' s TV coverage of everything but he game was good. Why can't they just keep the camera on the game. Do not want to see a sky view of the stadium 43,442 times. Not interested in watching the chop 32,239 times. And certainly not interested in panning the sidelines when the player are on the field.

The sandwich of the receiver on the goal line was as excruciating that I have seen in a long time. Frankly, I think it was the turning point of the whole game. FSU never seemed to recover from that, not just the loss, but general demeanor.

I think FSU will win a lot of games this year. Oklahoma will not go undefeated.

I was proud of the boys...

To have the number one team, with their explosive offense, tied 13-13 deep into the fourth was a good sign for the Noles. Especially with the Nole quarterback and top three receivers out injured.

When RS freshman Trickett came in as backup QB with the score 13-6 in the late third, I thought "uh oh". Here is a kid taking his first snaps against a BCS team and it is against number one on national primetime.

So, here are the Noles...their QB has never taken a snap against a BCS team, the top three receivers are on the bench or on the way back from the hospital...and the kid QB throws to a true freshman back up receiver to tie the game 13-13 in the 4th.

The crowd was wild all night. I slept late this morning because the game wore me out and my voice was one of thousands sacrificed to cheer on the defense.

This was a loss all right...but a sweet one in may ways. As we went out to breakfast this morning, I noticed the Nole faithful were an upbeat crowd. No hanging heads.

Spense...Oklahoma's star linebacker was back after missing the first game. Robinson is very good and he blitzed and blitzed.

What really hurt?

FSU had a TD pass called back on a holding call...had a TD pass caught but it dribbled out of the receiver's hands on the way to the ground because the Reciever was unconscious. Also FSU had the ball on the four and had another big holding call on a TD that backed it up and made it a FG attempt.

The O line has been moved around and the guy who played center in the first two games was at guard and a guard was moved to center. Because of injuries at camp, the line has not had time to gell. It will, hopefully get better because it is the weak link at present.

FSU is a better team than OU in my opinion.
I was really impressed with the entire offense when Trickett went in...you hear next man up too often, last night it appeared to be true! Future intact.
