Spurrier dismisses QB Garcia
Well, Garcia is no longer a Gamecock, according to ESPN radio about an hour ago. Took him long enough. How many chances did Garcia get? Too many. They are reporting he failed an alcohol test last week.
"A team with something to play for is dangerous, but a team with someone to play for is unstoppable..." Arkansas OL Brey Cook quote following the death of teammate Garrett Uekman (Nov. 2011).

ESPN is also reporting that Garcia was shocked by his dismissal! (This poor kid is some kind of amazing.) If you get busted for alcohol you aren't even trying...how long is it detectable?

Failing an alcohol test is terrible. All college kids should be able to drink their booze, that's what college is for, and it prepares them for the real need to drink, when they get married or start playing golf.Dossenator wrote:Well, Garcia is no longer a Gamecock, according to ESPN radio about an hour ago. Or in Spence's case:
Watching Saturday afternoon football with his friend, Jim Beam.

Though I don't drink . . . Spence, I'd be right there with ya this season if I did.

I don't like it when somebody expands a law or creates supersets for particular people. Take alcohol, some where in the decision making process, the argument must boil down to rudimentary logic that parallels the arguments forPprohibition. "Drinking is likely to lead to..." or "The chances greatly increase if..." and the related. Now I am no historian or lawyer, finding both to be very intriguing for about 33 seconds but leading to hours of boredom, but weren't there some Constitutional implications with Prohibition?

Should have been suspended long ago. 5 times is enabling at a professional level. Kids sign contracts on behavior. There is no constitutional right to get drunk and disorderly with you are underage, or even over aged.
The real problem is Spurrier and the AD and the college President allowing it to get this far and out of hand, just because the kid can throw a football. (and it appears there may have been other issues.)

Enough to drive me to drink!
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.
