ACC Championship

Postby Vileborg » Sun Dec 04, 2011 12:41 am

There is so much about the game that left me shaking my head. I wondered if there wasn't an ACC crew getting paid off and now I know it's true. In a close game it was enough to sway the game. Va tech made some mistakes but they gave up after the refs handicapped them. Notice how the penalties stopped after Clemson got up by a few scores?

Anyway, it matters not. The play calling in the second half was very Stinespring like and the use of assets was VERY Stinespring. Lack of adjustments on defense, and quitting early contributed. The way is now clear for Oklahoma St. and now my hopes go to them.

I didn't watch it, but I didn't see them losing this one.

Know the feeling.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

were there marching orders to ensure that VT was not in the NC conversation if LSU did happen to lose??

As much money as is involved in these TV showings and contracts....asking this question is not far fetched.

Funny you all question a conspiracy with the refs keeping VA Tech out. I was just saying to my friends last night that the Houston/S Miss game restored my confidence that no shenanigans go on because that conference lost millions by that upset. If you are going to fix a game, they are going to fix that one so that Houston goes to the BCS and the conference gets somewhere around 12 mill.

I didn't see much of the game, we were watching Sparty and Wiscy go at it, but we did flip over and see 1 of the missed horsecollar calls.

So the fix was in? Was it mandated from the SEC or ESPN?

Or was maybe Clemson the better team?

Was Clemson + the refs a better team? Surely.

Only beat Va Tech twice in the same year, so I would probably make that assumption.

FSU lost to Clemson by 5...the officials absolutely gave Clemson that game. FSU has been livid since. The bad calls, TD's called back, non calls, were so obviously meant to be one sided.

If the ACC officials aren't crooked, they are incompetent...but the penalties were suspiciously timed to end one team's drives and extend another's. A 21 point swing made by penalties.

I believe incompetence. I just don't see what giving they had to gain by giving Clemson the game. Unless they had money on the game and they better not let a bookie find that out.

Virginia Tech was the team with something to gain. Clemson was the monkey in the wrench.

I don't know if there was a fix. But it's happened before, remember when Pro Basketball was involved in a scandal with the refs?

It CAN happen...and we should always be suspicious when this much money is changing hands. Some schools budgets hang on their conference participating in the NCG AND a BCS game. That's 28+ million to be shared with the conference along with the other bowl winnings.

I never dismiss any calls of impropriety in this society that's in the middle of decay.

If "several" tackles were missed like this, something is wrong. Maybe incompetence. And if so, why are they not reprimanded?

The ACC Refs should be awarded the ACC crown...typical non calls for FSU.

As I posted earlier in the year there is suspicious money around Clemson. Remember the pic of Bellamy with a mouth full of cash? Clemson's rise this year seems very Auburn like and I'm still convinced somebody paid off Fairley's junior college professors for grades and paid Cam Newton to come to Auburn. You should mention that 3 of the five penalties on Clemson came late and were stupid nonsensical penalties. One of the other two was an offsetting personal foul for a skirmish between Exum and the whole Clemson bench. The final penalty was something stupid on a Clemson punt forcing a re-kick, coincidentally it negated a good return. They are not incompetent they are well paid I'm sure. Again I looked for this crew before and I did recognize them from the Duke game. Even the announcers were confused by the penalties not called. Face masks, Horse Collars, holding by Clemson, there is one in particular that the Clemson Tight End has Bonner by the shoulder flaps and is driving him around by them right in front of the ref. No helmet to helmet on the hit against Boykin or Wilson on clearly defenseless players, and of course the obvious pass interference on Marcus Davis who merely touched the receiver to judge his positioning and then leaped to make a great grab and was called for pass interference after the Clemson guy all but mugged him going down the field. Was it Clemson who paid the refs? Could be or it could be someone affiliated with Alabama who wanted to ensure they made the title game. Either way it ripped the heart right out of VT and the coach even said that on the Tech coaches show.
