ants in the pants for 2013 football to start

Postby Swamp Daddy » Wed Jun 05, 2013 8:14 pm

Well, it's dullsville again for me. Recruiting for 2014 about dried up. Summer camp about 95 days off. Tomatos in the garden not due for the same 90+ days. Finally able to let go of wining the 2013 Basketball championship. I'm actually enjoying yard work.

Maybe I'll have to get out DVDs of old games and watch 'em on Friday and Saturday to keep morale up. UofL will be in the lame duck AAC next year as the BE football schools, old and new, are now apart from the basketball playing Catholic schools who took the name and moved on.

Come on fall camp.

DVD's, have you not converted them to digital media? I actually transferred a bunch of old Iowa and Arkansas games from VCR tapes then to DVD's and finally ripped the DVD's to digital, so now they are stored on a hard drive that I can watch on my TV.

Hard drives are NOT permanent enough for me. I've had PCs for about 25 years now and have lost countless amounts of data in hard drive failures (and one motherboard up in smoke). Here's what I heard from real experts, "A hard drive is an accident waiting to happen". Oh, I have some games on the computer but once I've edited them I burn them at 1080p on DVD-DL discs. I do occasionally watch games on the computer (which is in the basement) but prefer the 66" TV upstairs. To each his own as far as storage goes.

I have approx 150 games, mostly football, but some basketball games on a 2TB, along with a large number of movies on a 2TB harddrive that I can watch with a sony media player on my 52" Samsung TV. I also have the movies and games backed up on a separate 1TB hard drive.

Oh, most of these games are either the Iowa Hawkeyes or Arkansas Razorbacks.

One of the advantage of aging is that often I don't remember who won the game. And yes, being a Hog and Hawk fan, I am used to disappointment, and have saved some losses in my archive.

Can't wait for the start! I'm still plot-n and scheming to get tickets to LSU. 8)
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Gosh dangit . . . I was fine until I reread this stupid post . . . Now I'm gettin' itchy.

Get this: I have to go to my wife's cousin's Wedding on Oct 5th (Miami/Ga Tech game), which is my Birthday.

My wife has two other cousins getting married this year:
Aug 31rst (College football opening weekend)
Nov 2cnd (the florida state game)

I feel a conspiracy . . .

I may be able to squirrel out of the Oct 5th reception early. But the other two will be difficult.

My wife's birthday is Aug 29th, so that condenses Kickoff weekend considerably for me . . . however, Miami opens the season on Friday, Aug 30th (I'll at least get to watch that one).

The Big Game on November second is gonna be tough. The wedding is in Indianapolis (usually a 3 and half hour drive on Saturdays).

.

Why do people always pick Saturdays in the fall to do these kinds of events?

They have to deal with me wearing ear buds of they decide to do it in the fall. I did have a buddy that got married on a Saturday and the reception included a big screen night game viewing of the Ohio State game that week.

Mrs. Donovan for years has said, "We would not have these conflicts if the schools would check with me before they scheduled these games."
