We live in a screwy world. Jim O'Brien loan as recruit 6 grand...a violation of some NCAA KGB OSU CIA KFC rule and gets fired. OK...seems reasonable
Now the Court of Appeals says that he should be paid 2.4 million for wrongful firing. Contract with moral turpitude clauses as in ...do not viloate the rules...obviously mean zero in the 10th District..... I would hope OSU would appeal to some higher courts aka The US Supreme court...

Re: The Ohio State University Must Pay for Aberant Firing of Bel
They had to pay because the contract said that he could be fired for violating NCAA policy. Ohio State, when they found out what he had done, fired him on the spot without waiting for the NCAA to rule he violated the rules. The court ruled that Ohio State put the cart before the horse.
I don't think Ohio State can appeal it any higher, it is a civil suit and this was an appeal of an earlier ruling. One thing is for sure, the university doesn't have much pull with the courts.
O'brien shouldn't get a dime. He cheated and he should have been fired. In either case, even after the pay the money, Ohio State is better off being done with him. People at Ohio State gave him a pass for having mediocre teams because he did things the by the book. Then this happens and we found out that we have a bad coach who cheats. What is worse is he wasn't even good at cheating.
