Marquette-Stanford

Postby BYUfan1 » Sun Mar 23, 2008 8:48 am

This was definitely one of the best games from Saturday as Stanford defeated Marquette in overtime 82-81. The Lopez brothers played as advertized as Brook scored the winning basket and had 30 points, and Robin chipped in 18. Mitch Johnson also played an important role in the game as he only committed one turnover and had a great floor game. He looks much different now than he did last year when the Cardinal got blitzed by Louisville.

Jerel McNeal had a great game for Marquette, but the Golden Eagles struggled late trying to guard Brook Lopez.

I missed one of the best parts of the game when Stanford coach Trent Johnson got two technical fouls called on him during a tv timeout. Doug Oliver, whom we all remember from when he coached at Idaho State, took over the coaching duties late in the first half.

Stanford coach took responsibility for his actions. Was pretty sheepish after in his interview. I too wish I could have seen the act that got him 2 t's!
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

Considering the hype, I thought Stanford got luck with that shot from behind the backboard almost. Marquette deserved the win. Stanford will go down once they hit a good defense.
