We take several 3 or 4 day trips a year. In July we are taking the kids down to North Myrtle for a week. It is only about a 10 hour drive from our house and It isn't as hot as Florida in the summer.
I'm not much for the vacation thing. If it weren't for the kids I wouldn't do it at all. I would rather spend the a week or two at the golf course.

This is my 17th year of dong this as a volunteer.
Get to see a lot of good baseball.
These kids play for the love of the game and not the almighty $$.
My field...IT Consulting...Does not allow me take vacations since I just got through 2 months of unemployment due to lack of a contract. But I started a new job today.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I've done a ton this summer. I hiked 8 miles down Supai Canyon into the Grand Canyon, took some beautiful pictures, I've got them online, I'll post the website. It's a less known part of the canyon, but worth the grueling hike, and of course you can take a helicopter down there.
Pam and I also went to Sedona, OMG it's so beautiful there.
Then Memorial Day, we drove down to Guaymas/San Carlos, Mexico.
I highly recommend all these places to you.
