Notre Dame at last

Postby Swamp Daddy » Fri Apr 19, 2013 12:11 pm

UL will play Notre Dame in 2014 when they go in the ACC. After nearly a decade of trying to schedule Notre Dame in the Big East they will finally meet in football.

I hope we are still up there when we meet them; but, unless there is a miracle we won't have Teddy Bridgewater. I don't yet have a handle on his replacements.

Should be interesting, Swamp Daddy :)

Sooo?

We have the Irish playing FSU and Louisville in 2014?

I had not seen confirmation of that Louisville match. Swofford has confirmed the FSU match.

So, apparently, we will be at their place.

Notre Dame game confirmed by the University of Louisville as being at Notre Dame. A return game to Louisville no sooner than 2017 if then.

Here's Notre Dame's home games a few years worth in advance:

ND's ACC foes: 2014-Home: UNC, UL, Wake; At FSU, SU; 2015-Home: BC, GT; At Clem, Pitt, UVa; 2016-Home: Duke, UM, VT; At: NCSU, SU

So for 2014 it's UNC, UL and Wake at home; rounding out away at FSU and Syracuse.

Some locals, maybe too much joy juice, have speculated that Teddy Bridgewater would stay for his senior season (our first in the ACC) and try for a national championship by playing the tough ACC schedule.

Personally, I think he will be offered so much money he will go pro after next year. Sill it's a nice dream.

Unless Bridgewater has a mediocre (for him) season in 2013, I don't think he'll entertain the thought of staying. But, sometimes the scouts pick up on one minor little thing and blow it out of proportion and the player's stock begins to plummet. I think this happened to Ryan Nassib and even Matt Barkley, who magically went from being the top pick potentially of the 2012 draft to being a fourth rounder in 2013 when he's the same QB.

For some reason people have this notion that staying in school and finishing your degree (which you can do post-football if you're so inclined) is more noble than bolting and taking the money when it's offered to you on a silver platter. I understand sometimes that wanting to finish out your career and trying to accomplish something at your school for one last hurrah can be pretty cool (I'm thankful Taylor Lewan wanted to come back), but I don't know how you can pass up millions of dollars. I wouldn't have the willpower no matter how much I loved my college team
