About the same, which was Eric's point and better than the FCS overall.
The conferences with the money are going to be better overall than the conferences without money. I support getting rid of the FCS games. I think more games against FBS schools out of conference make better games to watch. I also don't have a problem with playing a MAC or Sunbelt school every year. My problem with some of the B-10 schools is that they take the big check, but don't work to make their programs better. Indiana is trying and so is Northwestern. They both need to spend more money on football. Indiana did upgrade their football stadium a few years ago. Until then, their were high school fields here that were better. Iowa, Purdue, Illinois, and Minnesota need to spend some of their money on top notch coaches and facilities. Ferentz had lots of promise early, but seems to have gotten too comfortable with his position. Illinois tried with a Florida reject, but that didn't work either. Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Michigan State need to recruit better players. They have facilities, fan support, and atmosphere. It is time for them to step up. Michigan, I think, has stepped up and will be back as a national powerhouse in a year or three. I think Ohio State is very close to being back. They never really got that far away. Not top five elite since 2003, but not second tier either. The Big ten overall, though, needs to build their football like they have their basketball programs.

And if this is the reason for the game, I really don't have a problem with it.Spence wrote:I like it too. Playing FCS teams serves no purpose other than being a fund raising tool for the FCS teams.

Well,it certainly is a plus in the budget of FCS teams but it is also an easy early home game for the BCS team to get fans in the butts who only want to see them stomp someone the first few games. Both sides benefit. But for the fans who go beyond the rah-rah tailgating being the most important thing, we'd like to see better games in the OOC schedule. But anytime a lesser team gets better none of the big boys want to tackle them.
I can see a number of sides to this.

As a fan, I will not pay for tickets to see my team play a team that is an FCS team. Unless, I am a season ticket holder, then I have no choice. My guess this would be the feelings of most fans.Swamp Daddy wrote:Well,it certainly is a plus in the budget of FCS teams but it is also an easy early home game for the BCS team to get fans in the butts who only want to see them stomp someone the first few games. Well, I imagine most fans *on this board* would want the better games; but, I know plenty of fans who could care less for the first few games who it is as long as their team stomps them; the more beers they've had the more they want the score to be run up. I'm with you, not being a season ticket holder myself, I would not want to pay today's prices to see my team play nobody. But, being retired, I have to be selective with what little extra money there is to spend on sports, hobbies, etc.

I agree. Ohio State wants you to pay $80 for every game and more for the good games.
