You have to give the credit for this to Jim Tressel.

Congratulations to them. These achievements makes programs very sustainable. The other unsubstantiated observation I have is, when teams do well academically, a lot of other discipline problems do not crop up. As a shameful plug to Boise State is that they have been on that list for several consecutive years; I can help that is Petersen ever wanted to move, these types of credentials increase the dollar amount a school would be willing to pay.

PS Having read more about Pres. Gee during this last episode, he seems like a great person. I am sorry I misjudged him on his frothing at the mouth; though at some level you no longer get to make those comments many of make on a daily basis without repercussion.

I agree about Pres. Gee. As much as he has done for Ohio State and this state as a whole, you have to understand the world that we live in and there are things you could get away with saying 25 years ago that you can't today. He isn't a racest and I don't believe he is a bigot. He is too well loved by the student body. He spent lots of time on campus among them. He was the old nutty professor type. But also to worldly to get caught up in those kinds of messes.

To their credit, the fathers at Notre Dame were the first to let him off the hook. They could have made it a bigger deal, but they didn't. You have to give them credit for understanding the context in which it was said.

Petersen is a great coach. The fact that he hasn't jumped at the next big thing makes him worth even more.
