And we're still plucking them away . . . this time from Clemson.

.

American Heritage running back and hurdler Walter Tucker visited the UM campus Wednesday, and has committed to play football and run track in Coral Gables.

Tucker, a senior who was committed to Clemson to run track, chose Miami over the ACC rival after it became apparent he wouldn't be playing football for the Tigers.

The six-foot, 200-pound Tucker shared the American Heritage backfield with Sony Michel, and that earned him interest from Texas, Wisconsin and Alabama. But Tucker's commitment to track scared many of the top teams away.

Tucker's track prowess overshadowed his football career at Heritage. Tucker was the best 110-meter hurdler in Florida and an Olympic hopeful (his career-best in the 110 is 13.83). He was the Sun Sentinel's track athlete of the year.

Tucker transferred from St. Thomas Aquinas to American Heritage before his junior year. Hamstring injuries limited his junior year, but he was a go-to back for the Patriots when healthy last year.

2014 class winding down; you can check it out here:

http://www.yardbarker.com/colleges/loui ... rdinals/66

If I tried to retype it I probably would screw it up.

And a surprise last minute addition to the 2013 class who will probably get some time.

Strong & Co. are gangbusters at recruiting and are now having sucess in Ohio. I am still holding out on his coaching ability as witness the 2012 campaign (bad weather and all) games that were such squeakers.

We'll see in 2013, Swamp Daddy :)

Troublesome ex-Auburn player (and ex-a few other places), Michael Dyer, has apparently had talks with ULs Charlie Strong on coming to Louisville. If he isn't pretty straight coach Strong will sniff him out and close the door. Who knows what's next.

4-star defensive tackle, Poona Ford, out of Hilton Head in SC is heading to UL choosing them over Clemson, South Carolina and other offers. He committed yesterday and is probably the last 2014 recruit to be added. :)

4-star RB Michael Dyer, ex-Auburn, ex-Arkansas State to Arkansas Bible College has gotten his academic act together and will be eligible to play at UL this season. Has he gotten his mistake prone decision making (guns and drugs) in order we have yet to see; but, Coach Stong said he is under a zero tollerance policy. :?:

Best team we've ever had, probably the easiest schedule (or in top 5 easiest anyway) we've ever had too. :?

have fun, Swamp Daddy 8)

I have Louisville running the table unless they have a WTF game..at most one loss.

Louisville at Cincinnati, the last game of the year for the Keg of Nails. I think that's the one game they really need to circle on their calendar and I might even go so far as to predict that they lose that game. Ohio and Rutgers are probably the next two best teams on the schedule and they get those at home. They're a good deal better than everybody else they play this year except for Cincy who should boast a pretty effective offense. And you never know with rivalry games how those will play out.

Miami Flips 3 More ...

Deerfield Beach running back Brandon Powell commits to Miami:

Brandon Powell decommitted from a two-month pledge to Tennessee Saturday afternoon.
A few hours later, he was again committed.

This time, to the Miami Hurricanes.

As first reported by South Florida High School Sports, Powell committed to Miami Saturday night.

Powell is Miami's 26th verbal commit in the Class of 2014 and the 16th commitment from Palm Beach, Broward or Dade County.

At five-foot-nine and 170 pounds with a 4.4 second 40-yard dash, Powell projected as a cornerback and slot receiver as well as a running back. Miami, unlike LSU and other schools, didn't recruit Powell as solely a cornerback prospect.

Suttles is headed South:

There had been talk and tweets suggesting former Husker Ernest Suttles was going to continue his football career at Miami.

Now there's a report out there to back it up.

Suttles' high school coach Jason Stokes says the defensive end from Tampa is indeed going to play for the Hurricanes.

Jason Stokes: "Ernest is a good-hearted kid... What happened up there was really not his character and I know that's all people are going to see, but I promise you he’s going to get down there and do ‘The U’ proud. He’s not going to get in any trouble or make any headlines. He’s just going to go down there and work and do what he has to do in class, and bust his tail on the field.”

A 2013 Nebraska signee, Suttles, who was dismissed from the Husker team in June only weeks after arriving on campus, will have to sit out this season before he can contribute.

Of note: Nebraska and Miami play each other in 2014 and 2015.

From Cowboys to `Canes:

According to Dieter Kurtenbach of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel; Defensive lineman Naim Mustafaa has decommitted from Oklahoma State and is now a Hurricane. From the 2013 recruiting class, he has already been added to the team's roster, per the report.

Naim was considered to be the 20th-best strong-side defensive end in the 2013, per 247Sports. He also had offers from Tennessee, Florida, Nebraska and Virginia Tech, among others.

Mustafaa was a longtime Georgia commit but decided to pick Oklahoma State as national signing day approached. Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy then confirmed during Big 12 Media Days that Mustafaa was no longer part of the program. The reason for the departure remains unknown.

Naim, who participated in spring drills for Oklahoma State earlier this year, will be forced to sit out this season due to NCAA rules. He will be eligible to play next season with four years of eligibility remaining.

Considered to be a defensive lineman at 6'4", 235 pounds, he could also be a nice fit as an outside linebacker. He has wonderful athleticism, uses his hands well and is truly a disruptive defender.

His size needs to improve for him to be an edge pass-rusher in the 4-3 defense, but that can certainly be worked on during his year of ineligibility.

Another thing Mustafaa has going for him are his great bloodlines. His father, Reggie Rutland, played seven seasons in the NFL as a defensive back for the Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns and Oakland Raiders.

Dyer was willing to walk-on to get a chance in Fayetteville, but wisely, I believe first year head coach Bielema did not extend an invitation.

Dyer is a high performance back ... as long as he can stay straight & narrow off the field; any team would be lucky to have him on their roster.
