Fantasy Conference Alternatives

Postby Cane from the Bend » Tue Aug 27, 2013 1:19 am

To give the game a little more pizazz, I am offering up to you guys option of choices which make the point values for win accumulations potentially extend beyond the season, at large.

The Poll Options are defined as:
(all subsequent option alternatives are highlight with this color)

Option (1.) Basic Conference Competition
--- this system in play is as is, until the end of the Bowl Season
--- plus 1 point for each team base win
--- plus .5 point for each team win vs a top 15 ranked opponent (after week 5)
--- minus .5 per team loss
--- minus 1 point per team loss vs an FCS opponent

Option (2.) Bowl Season Conference vs Conference, Heads Up
--- the system in play is as is, until the Start of Bowl Season
--- same point scoring as above until the end of the Conference Championships
--- bet your Conference against someone else's Conference, per Team Bowl Wins
--- bet any number of points your Conference earned vs Others' points (prior to Bowl season)

Option (3.) Bowl Season Conference Competition
--- the system in play is as is, until the Start of Bowl Season
--- same point scoring as above until the end of the Conference Championships
--- bet your Conference against someone else's Conference, per Team Bowl Wins
--- challenge multiple conferences (just be sure not to over bet your points)
--- bet any number of points your Conference earned vs Others' points (prior to Bowl season)

Option (4.) Post Season Conference vs Conference, Heads Up
--- the system in play is as is, until the Start of Conference Championships
--- same point scoring as above until the end of the Regular Season
--- bet any number of your Conference points against someone else's Conference, per Teams in Conference Championship Games
--- bet any number of your remaining Conference points against someone else's Conference, per Team Bowl Wins

Option (5.) Post Season Conference Competition
--- the system in play is as is, until the Start of Conference Championships
--- same point scoring as above until the end of the Regular Season
--- bet any number of your Conference points against someone else's Conference, per Teams in Conference Championship Games
--- bet any number of your remaining Conference points against someone else's Conference, per Team Bowl Wins
--- challenge multiple conferences (just be sure not to over bet your points)

Option (6.) Conference Divisions
--- each Conference would be divided into two separate Divisions
--- Divisions would be divided by Odd and Even Round Selections
--- Division Ones would be the 1rst, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th Round Teams
--- Division Twos would be the 2cnd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th Round Teams
--- this system in play is as is, until the end of the Bowl Season
--- plus 1 point for each team base win
--- plus .5 point for each team win vs a top 15 ranked opponent (after week 5)
--- minus .5 per team loss
--- minus 1 point per team loss vs an FCS opponent

Option (7.) Conference Divisions Bowl Season, Heads Up
--- the system in play is as is, until the Start of Bowl Season
--- same point scoring as above until the end of the Conference Championships
--- bet your Conference Divisions Separately against 2 Other Conference Divisions, per Team Bowl Wins
--- bet any number of points your Conference earned vs Others' points (up through the Conference Championships)

Option (8.) Bowl Season Conference Division Competition
--- the system in play is as is, until the Start of Bowl Season
--- same point scoring as above until the end of the Conference Championships
--- bet your Conference Divisions Individually against Others' Conference Divisions, per Team Bowl Wins
--- challenge multiple Divisions with each of your own Divisions (just be sure not to over bet your points)
--- bet any number of points your Conference earned vs Others' points (up through the Conference Championships)

Option (9.) Post Season Conference vs Conference, Heads Up with Divisions
--- the system in play is as is, until the Start of Conference Championships
--- same point scoring as above until the end of the Regular Season
--- bet your Conference Divisions against 2 Other Conference Divisions, per Teams in Conference Championship Games
--- bet your Conference Divisions against 2 Other Conference Divisions, per Team Bowl Wins
--- bet any number of points your Conference earned vs Others' points (up through the Regular Season)

Option (10.) Post Season Conference Competition
--- the system in play is as is, until the Start of Conference Championships
--- same point scoring as above until the end of the Regular Season
--- bet each of your Conference Divisions against Multiple Conference Divisions, per Teams in Conference Championship Games
--- challenge multiple Divisions with each of Your Divisions, per Team Bowl Wins (just be sure not to over bet your points)
--- bet any number of points your Conference earned vs Others' points (up through the Regular Season)

Option (11.) To Heck With that Nonsense, You Guys Decide

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

note: none of these are mandatory challenges, as you may refrain from betting, and hoard your points won during the season

also: if you're wondering what the difference between Option (1.) & Option (6.) is, with Option (6.) you can gauge the performance of your Conference Divisions separately [not very exciting, I know, though a unique approach if you want to go that route]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No hurry on choosing any of the above --- I made this a 14 day Poll, so you have time to soak it all in.

I also enabled the option to change your votes, in the event that you decide you'd rather settle on another preference --- and/or you read something wrong, and realize you'd prefer a different choice, after you've logged in your vote.

I could go any way on this. So, my preferences are rather flexible at the moment.

I might lean one way or the other in the next so many days --- I just thought this would be an interesting twist to the points accumulation we get --- making these points potentially mean something at season's end. (kind of like the old betting for bucks this site used to have enabled)

I just figured I'd lay the options all out at once, instead of placing them in multiple thread/post/reply messages.

Though, I could go with any of the choices --- I voted for Option 8.

Option 8 would see our Conferences split into two Divisions.
We would earn Conference points through the Conference Championships.
Then we could bet our Conference points earned during the Bowl Season.
We could challenge Multiple Conference Divisions with Both sides of our Conferences.

Example

The Conference Divisions would be:

Dossenator
Division One
Alabama
Michigan
Miami
BYU
Navy

Division Two
Florida State
Oklahoma State
Arkansas State
Louisiana-Lafayette
Arkansas

Spence
Division One
Ohio State
Florida
UCLA
Marshall
North Carolina

Division Two
Oregon
Texas
Virginia Tech
Baylor
USC

Eric
Division One
Louisville
South Carolina
Michigan State
TCU
Louisiana Tech

Division Two
Nebraska
Stanford
Ole Miss
Ball State
Rutgers

Warrriorsfan808
Division One
LSU
Texas Tech
Kansas State
Northwestern
Kent State

Division Two
Texas A&M
Northern Illinois
Utah State
San Jose State
Vanderbilt

Donovan
Division One
Boise State
Oregon State
Tulsa
Wisconsin
Louisiana-Monroe

Division Two
Notre Dame
Bowling Green
ECU
Arizona State
Rice

Cane from the Bend
Division One
Georgia
Clemson
Fresno State
Toledo
Penn State

Division Two
Oklahoma
Cincinnati
Ohio
Western Kentucky
Washington

Then prior to the start of the Bowl games, I could bet either of my Divisions with Bowl eligible teams against anyone else whose Division(s) have Bowl eligible teams.

That is --- I could bet my Division One against Eric's Division Two (should Eric accept my challenge)

I could then bet my Division Two against Donovan's Division Two

And if I wanted to risk more (so long as I don't over bid my points), I could continue to bet either of my Divisions against Spence's, Dossenator's, or Warrriorsfan808's Divisions.

.

Again, this would be post season, after the Conference Championship games.
We would accumulate 1 point for each of our teams who wins a Conference Title.
We would not be betting points on the Conference Title games.

Those Options would be (4.), (9.) and (10.)

I voted for number 8 because you did. I think you have a great career ahead of you writing legislation for the Congress. I think we have to vote for to see what we have. I like the idea the contest extends into the post season. I will defer any change to you Cane...

And I also would vote if any team is disqualified because of rules violations, we spit in the eye of the NCAA and count the wins or losses. Warrior has to have some hope. Unless it is Oregon, then Spence is just out of luck.

heh ... just trying to be thorough (I'd hate to have Eric come along and tell me I missed something).

Yeah, I was certainly not going to make anyone forfeit points due to a team being found ineligible by bunch of prepaid millionaires, who stuff their pockets with money gained from collegiate programs, and do nothing other than spin more regulations than the federal government.

Of course ... should it be a case against the big northern westward left wing O (and I don't mean oprah), we could possibly make an exception ... wanna put it to a vote
