Wazzu Hanging in Against Spoiled Man-Child

Postby Eric » Sun Sep 08, 2013 1:25 am

And by "spoiled man-child", I think you know to whom I am referring 8)

7-7 with 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. USC's offense. Is. Awful. On a side note, so is Washington State's. I wonder if Leach's stint here and June Jones' stint in SMU is disproving the theory that any QB can just step in and run these offenses. There seems to be some kind of skill that they want to recruit for. Leach should get this offense in motion soon, but it's been awful for the first two years. No getting around that.

10-7 Wazzu with 3 minutes!

Washington State will be my favorite team, at least for the night, if they pull this out 8)

I think it might start to tailspin. Of course, a tailspin usually presumes that there was some fall from grace. I'm suspecting that their weak performance offensively against Hawaii wasn't just the homefield Hawaii enjoys. That combined with one measly touchdown at home tonight suggests that their offense is legitimately terrible. I don't know who coaches USC's QBs, but they have no idea what they're doing.

Of course, Marquise Lee made a big mistake tonight. He had the first down on a fourth down reception if he just fell forward, but he jutted back trying to move around a guy for extra yardage. A bonehead play to say the least. And that speaks to the amount of discipline that comes down from up top. We might be looking at a total collapse kind of season, maybe 3-9. I think it has the potential to be that brutal. Boston College and Utah State can easily knock this team off. And I have no idea how they plan on beating teams like Stanford, Arizona State, UCLA, etc. with no offense.

It looked as you described. The other side of the coin is Washington State stayed focused. All kinds of issue, but Leach has them believing. I suspect they will have a much better year than expected, maybe break even. What this game does not them, is nobody will take them for granted. And if there is any legitimacy to the win, and I suspect there is some, the home games will be a distinct advantage to WSU. Martin Stadium is very different. First Pullman is in the middle of nowhere. It can be cold, like a mothers-in-law kiss. Well, not that cold, but cold. The other thing the stadium run East and West and on a sunny afternoon visiting teams do not adjust to that. Anyway. A very good win for the Cougs, regardless of how good USC is or is not.

Well when you hire the village idiot your asking for it. He looked good with Pete Carrolls recruiting classes but now he's done. At least he's not trying to sing Kum Ba Yah at mid field although it's still early.

....Aaaaaand it's official. Lane Kiffin was fired this morning. I for one am sad to see him go as I was just getting used to USC underperforming

To be honest though, I was a little surprised at the suddenness of it all. He was fired after USC got back on campus after their dismal defensive effort. I'm not really sure how that all happened because Utah State got completely dominated and they had no chance against Arizona State.
