With Boise State's demolishing that they suffered at the hands of Washington, asking them to make the BCS would be hard. But if the chips fall in their favor, an 11-game winning streak and a potential 9-10 win season from Washington to make it look less bad, they could get in the conversation. Northern Illinois and Kent State were threatening to crack the top 16 even with one loss, so the Broncos could find themselves in that situation. The only downside here is that the American Athletic will probably be sending Louisville to the BCS and they won't be ranked in the low 20's this time around.
For Fresno State, an undefeated season would assure them of a BCS berth. After Boise, there won't be much to stop them on the way to the MWC championship game, probably against Boise. San Jose State could emerge as a challenger in the division, but that would be about it.
Fresno State looks like they should be in control right now, but the game has really been back and forth. Boise DB's are really letting the receivers from Fresno get the best of them. And Joe Southwick is making Joe Southwick-like errors as usual.

Fresno/Boise...BCS bid on the line?

Boise does not have the spark nor the brilliance of past years. Southwick can not be the guy. This is an ugh game at half time. The defensive backs watch the play, then make the tackle. Guess they do not want to miss any of the game.

All good things come to an end.....time to get some experience from the depth chart....

Yeah, I think Utah State and BYU on the road are starting to look like losses. Looks like an 8-4 campaign is in the works...

Fresno State had some problems on the road last year which is why I think they may have lucked out against an improved Colorado team. Their toughest games away from Fresno are against Wyoming and San Jose State, so we won't know for sure if Fresno State is BCS-material until November. I don't think they can get the Colorado game rescheduled since Fresno will likely be in the MWC championship game and the other possibility is UNLV having to switch one of their dates, which would inconvenience them.

The concern I have is the coaching staff. Petersen has proven himself, but the play calling is not good and whomever is doing the defensive backs, these guys are not in position. I general, I don't think the defense knows where they are suppose to be on a given play.
Fresno may be all right the rest of the year, but their schedule is like most in the conference this time of the year, just mediocre, so who knows.

This was a fun game . . . Boise loosened up down the stretch, and their offense started playing much better [even if it took a spark from the special teams].
Fresno was otherwise impressive . . . they slacked a bit, and got themselves in trouble; with Boise taking the lead late. Fresno still kept their poise, marching the field methodically, and scored a touchdown [though they left way too much time on the clock].
Boise did choke at the end. Big mistake in the play calling, going for more yardage then they needed on some plays, which hurt them in 3rd & 4th down scenarios.
Fresno State looks to be the MW's team of the year . . . San Jose St just took a 43-24 hit against Minnesota.

I was shocked at how San Jose State played today. I don't have much faith in Carragher at SJSU or Wells at Utah State. I don't think they can keep the momentum going that was generated last year. But I heard that Minnesota was banged up and wasn't sure how deep they were. San Jose State made so many stupid penalties. Fales is probably the most accurate passer in college football outside of Bridgewater; I thought he did what he could but he wasn't as sharp in the second half.
Leidner impressed me with the way he ran the offense. The offensive line was punishing. I'm going to do a bowl update and Minnesota will definitely be in it. I left them out because I thought this was a game they would lose and finish 5-7. But with the Big 10 shaping up the way it is, they could be a threat for 8 wins. The schedule does get much tougher from here on out though.
