Re: Coach Kiffin is no more
He has no chance at another head coaching job. He should never have been a head coach. Whoever decided hiring him at USC put the school back 5 years.

OSU and U of O are rivals...despite the little brother comment. There is not many rivalries as good as the Civil War. As a kid you were either a Dodger fan or a Yankee fan. Raised in Oregon, only to come home watch the tide of life go out, you were either a Duck or a Beaver. I just learned in third grade there is no Duck on the Oregon State flag.
OSU of course was a lot better in the 60's. Oregon State has a Heisman, we don't. When I was a student and UO pretty much sucked, OSU sucked worse. Rich Brooks was a Beaver. Rich Brooks once said, recalling his OSU days, that he knew many boosters who hated the Ducks so much that they wouldn't even attend the game if it were held in Eugene.

He will be back as a head coach, if he chooses by fall of next year. Just the way it works, like the government, you can shuffle the deck, but keep the same cards.
USC needs to fire their public relations advisor. The sports world will be okay with this, that is what rabid dogs do. But this will not play well down the road. He got fired, he is now a rich man. Facts are, he has his side of the story to tell and it may not be that great about USC. E.g. He goes there under all kinds of restrictions and handicaps. He muddles through it all and when the road becomes bumpy, you get the parking lot boot. I never thought he was mature enough to coach at that level and I am not even sure what that means.

That is a good way to put it. Not mature enough to coach at this level. He will have his side of the story and USC better look out. Unless his dad intervenes, he is totally capable of dragging USC through the mud.

Kiffin has a history of failing forward; it would not shock me if he landed another plum job. I can't explain it. All that comes to mind is a quote from H.L. Mencken, "Never overestimate the intelligence of the American public."

I don't think it will happen this time. He has a body of work to be judged by and it isn't very good. He has trashed two strong programs.

Not gonna say that Kiffin won't get another job because there's always another sucker out there. But I'm not even sure Savannah State would touch him at this point.

Re: Coach Kiffin is no more
I guess the thing Kiffin has going for him is his age. I could see him coming back in 10 years or so if he has success as a coordinator either in the NFL or in college.

Re: Coach Kiffin is no more
He certainly is not done in football. Already this morning I am reading where somesports writers think he got a raw deal. This will not bode well for USC. Like many other coaches that have taken over programs in disarray, he failed to win and he gets booted in Hollywood Style, cheap tawdy and melodramatic. He took over a program that was three quarters, interms of scholarships along with a pot load of sanctions. USC now is acting like they are the paragon of virtue when in fact they are still running amok. They expected to win because they had some talent, last year Barkley. Well as one pointed out, this is not basketball where the team witht the most stars wins, this is football where you have to start out with some parity. Kiffin was a bad hire, no doubt, young, not a good track record, inexperience and he just isn't the USC type. His firing was more bush league than his hiring.

Re: Coach Kiffin is no more
Winners find a way to win not complain about the disadvantages they faced. The media will say he didn't get a fair chance and if some program falls for that then they deserve what they get. The fact the USC hired him left me laughing at their program. Once Carrolls kids were gone I knew he'd be done. Maybe he can go back to singing rocky top in the middle of the field.
As far as Kiffin getting fired mid season, even Earl Campbell knows Mack Brown is going to be looking for a job soon.
If Texas hires Nick Saban I might actually root for them. Not a fan of Saban's methodologies, as I think he's a little too conservative, but since he's won a few more national titles than myself I can't deny he's got it right. If they hire Kiffin I'm moving out of Austin so my place doesn't get looted in the riots to come.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Sooo.... They named Orgeron head coach. You may recognize him as the Ole Miss coach from The Blind Side who said "He really knows how to pepper the gumbo". Well it seems Orgeron's 15 years behind other coaches has taught him a thing or two about "peppering the gumbo", the kids definitely will play for him, here's to hoping he learned a little something about coaching in that time.

Actually Kiffen had a pretty good interview on Gameday this morning. Didn't really seem like a douche. Very surprising.
