I'm surprised that Auburn didn't sniff the polls. I know I voted for them at #24.

I dropped Michigan from the rankings entirely . Maybe I'll let them in at the back end next week if they can beat Indiana at home . That game was basically #21 as far as the Pick'em is concerned. I really debated putting it on there. If it weren't at the Big House I would have, but I didn't see too many guys going for the Hoosiers on the road.

I'm still gunshy about ranking Northern Illinois. I'm going to give it a couple weeks more than likely because there are a lot of teams just outside of the top 25 that you can easily make a case for being ranked. Teams like Texas, Maryland, Utah, Michigan State, Oregon State, Notre Dame, Arizona State, and some others are a win next week away from getting back into the conversation. I can't rank NIU over those teams yet when they beat Akron by 7, Eastern Illinois by 4, and Idaho by 10 (Idaho jumped up big on them early, NIU needed a second-half comeback to finally put them away). Their demolition of Purdue isn't too much to get excited about and they do have a decent win against Iowa. The secondary is one of the worst in the nation. That could hurt them against a team with an explosive passing game like Ball State.

I think it is a solid ranking of teams. I think most who vote here do it honestly and I have always believed that is the only way to get a good ranking.

Well, let's just hope that tonight clears up my reservations for the cfp voters, and, if Miami pulls out the come back victory, the great surveyors of this site, appropriately drop the Canes in their rankings.

We have yet to prove we can compete vs true opponents.
No sense in giving the U such a high rank.
I do not believe we are a top 15 team.

Is this poll supposed to be a "ranking" or a "power ranking"? Merging those two paradigms has, in my opinion, ruined the BCS and will be much worse under the new system next year, so I'm just curious.

Looks pretty good. As of today, I'd swap tOSU and Florida State, as far as the top ten goes.

Basically our users poll is just that, a poll. I have always believe that if you are voting in a poll - it is subjective - you are going to probably vote your team a little higher. That isn't a problem, as long as you don't vote a team down that you don't care for. I don't think there is a wrong order if you are honest in you voting. The key is being honest about it. I think the guys who vote are honest about it.

I'll give you some honesty .. .. .. If Central Florida beats Louisville tonight; despite their losing one game, the Knights should be ranked higher than Miami (again, that is, if they win tonight's game).

Unfortunately for me, I never had Louisville on upset alert in public.

I liked UCF from what I've seen and I thought they could really push the Ville. I ranked them after their win in Happy Valley, but I didn't know they had a victory in them tonight, especially on the road. But Bortles and Storm Johnson make for a good combo and their receivers are pretty solid. Add to that a physical and athletic defense and this is a competitive team. Now they're in the driver's seat for the BCS berth out of the AAC. They missed out on Cincinnati in league play and they host Rutgers. But I think this is a team that isn't great but has a ceiling where they can compete with some good teams, so I wouldn't rule out an upset. But Louisville would either need a three-way tie or UCF to lose two games. Best-case scenario for the Cards is for Rutgers to beat UCF. The tiebreaker, as far as I know, would mean the highest-ranked team in the BCS goes which would almost assuredly be Louisville.

That was an amazing game, I'm not sure how Saturday is going to compete with Thurs. and Friday this week. I'm a bit sad to see Louisville lose, but happy for UCF. This is the third game of theirs I've seen this season, and I really like them too. I've watched a few Rutgers games this year too, so really looking forward to that one. Any predictions?

I don't have the foggiest idea. I doubt UCF can go the rest of the way without losing another game. I would lean towards Rutgers taking that, but I don't have a strong opinion. So I still might take Louisville if I had to pick their BCS representative.

I'm going to go out on a limb tonight and say that Fresno State really gets pushed hard by UNLV. UNLV is coming out of nowhere this year with Caleb Herring going from mediocre to stellar in the passing game. UNLV's offense is one of the biggest surprises this year. UNLV will probably lose since they'll give up more than 50 points in all likelihood, but I think it'll be close. The one game Fresno really has to watch out for is San Diego State next week who appears to be (somewhat) back on track on both sides of the ball.
