Someone Forgot to Tell Toledo . . .

Postby Cane from the Bend » Wed Nov 20, 2013 11:43 pm

Breast cancer awareness month has passed on by. We're 20 days into the following month. You don't look sympathetic ... just pathetic. You're the guy who shows up late to the party after it has ended ... and the uniforms are just plain disgusting.

Okay; that is out of the way ... Toledo is playing well tonight. They need to hang in there, because one more touchdown, and Northern Illinois could run off with it.

Presently a 4 point game . . . but they can't seem to contain Lynch.
First & goal right now for the Huskies. 10:26 left in the game.

There it is, Lynch into the endzone . . . capping off a 99 yard drive for a touchdown.

Northern Illinois is now up 11. It maybe just too much for Toledo to come back from.

That should probably do it. No Illinois put up another touchdown. The Huskies are now up 35-17.

Let's see teams come out in light blue during September (prostate cancer month). The prostate cancer ribbon is light blue and lacks the well oiled PR of the breast cancer campaign.

About 39,620 women will die from breast cancer...it is a killer.

About 29,720 men will die of prostate cancer

Your point is well taken. The whole idea of cause marketing is questionable. I do like that young men are now more aware of breast cancer and think young women should be more aware of prostate cancer. Next to lung cancer, colorectal cancer is the leading cause of death in both men and women. I think that month is in March. On a football note, the Phil Knight Cancer center in conjunction with OHSU (Oregon Health Sciences University), funded by the Phil Knight foundation, has done tremendous research in these areas. And to his credit, he is very low key about it. (Also despite all the flack he gets about the University of Oregon and their program, no building or stadiums are named after him. He actually is a humble guy, just hard to be inconspicuous when you are worth 12 billion dollars.)
