Arkansas after week 4

Postby Dossenator » Sat Sep 20, 2014 10:46 pm

Beat by Auburn (game tied 21-21 at half in Auburn)

Next three weeks all Hogs blowouts:
Nichols State (73-7)
Texas Tech in Lubbock (49-28)
Northern Illinois (52-14)

Not sure if the three teams are as pathetic as they looked, or Ark is that much improved over the last two seasons, or a combination of the two.

Tonight, NIU looked out matched at every position. Final score was 52-14 (NIU's 2nd TD was against backup D). Not sure how that team has won so many games. I am thinking Lynch had a lot to do with that.

Last week Ark threw Texas Tech around like rag dolls. It was fun to watch as a Razorback fan.

Next weeks matchup is Texas A&M in Dallas (Cowboy Stadium). That game is followed by Bama, and Georgia. I guess my question will be answered soon.

Thanks Spence. Moved into a new house, moved my mom, tons of work, etc (just been busy). Will hang around a lot more rest of season.

Northern Illinois' problem lately against superior competition has always been how one-dimensional they are. They can overwhelm a team like Eastern Michigan by keeping it on the ground all day. They can't move the football against teams like Utah State, Arkansas, etc. with that kind of offensive gameplan. Hare is like a less talented Jordan Lynch, not a guy that is going to provide much of a passing threat. They were physically overmatched defensively to the point where Arkansas made moving the football look easy. Against a opponent that isn't quite as large, NIU's defense would hold their own which is how they typically play well in the MAC.

Arkansas' running game has been great so far so they are a legitimate threat to do some damage. The only issue is how difficult their schedule in the SEC West will be. It'll be interesting to see where they stand up because Mississippi State has looked great so far and then Ole Miss still has some question marks. And outside of that, you're still dealing with Auburn, Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M. Over the past few years, I thought the SEC horn-tooting was overdone, but I think they deserve it this year. Even with Missouri's upset loss to Indiana, they're still a very good team. And obviously Arkansas looks very good, Tennessee is still sloppy but getting better, and even Kentucky looks solid.

I agree Eric.

Ark is much improved but overall record may not improve much this year.

One stat I saw tonight: last year Ark scored 248 points for the entire season....after 4 games this year they have scored 195 points.

Welcome back Doss. 8)
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Yes, it's been several years, and you guys took the last one in Athens.

I'm hoping Ga pulls the defense together by then, but I highly doubt it.
