Florida vs Tennessee

Postby billybud » Sun Oct 05, 2014 8:55 am

The Gators pulled off a 10-9 win...it was a brutal, ugly win...but a "W".

I lost it when I heard a talking head describe it as a "bum fight next to a burning oil barrel".

I bet the guy worked on that line all week and just had to get it in regardless.

That is disrespectful to "bums" everywhere. :D

 That is a pretty good description

The problem with these two schools isn't the football program itself, but it's the guys who they have given the keys to the program. Butch Jones is a mediocre head coach and will start falling out of favor with the Tennessee faithful in short order. He's brought in a decent recruiting class, but after the Kiffin year and the Derek Dooley era, I think they are getting impatient. A lot like Michigan fans

And with Florida, Muschamp looked like a solid hire, but he has been a whole bag of meh. Muschamp had one season in which the defense was so loaded that they road it to a good 11-1 in 2012, but he was 7-6 the year before and 4-8 the year after. If Florida struggles to get bowl eligible again, I think they make a switch, especially when Florida State looks so good in comparison. I thought Roeper would really fix the offense even with Driskel at the helm and would at least have made them pretty competitive in the SEC East, but maybe the QB change can save his job going forward. It's not like the East are a bunch of world-beaters. Kentucky may very well be the second-best team in the division this year.

We live in an era of knee jerk management, doing the coaching rotisserie is not going to attract talent to the program.

I agree with that in the case of Butch Jones.

Muschamp, however, has had his opportunity. It maybe time to give someone else a go.
The reptiles continue to have great recruiting classes. But, where is that talent on game day.

I do not think Muschamp survives this season with a bowl appearance.
He'll need to turn it around, get a New Year's/eve Bowl ... and win it.
