Finally, Notre Dame

Postby Swamp Daddy » Thu Nov 13, 2014 11:50 pm

After dodging us for ages in the Big East (when a lot of the time we could have clobbered them - ), they are pinned down into playing UL by the ACC scheduling. UL had a by week this past weekend, as did ND, so both should be ready.

However, improving QB Will Gardner suffered a torn ACL in the BC game and is out for the rest of the season. Backup Reggie Bonnafon has seen playing time. He has had ups and downs, he is a fast runner when allowed to do so; he can throw. But, he does show freshmen tendencies at times, He will be "the one" at Notre Dame and under a lot of pressure. Game will be interesting to me as a "first" for UL.

Coming soon to a channel near you. 3 more ND/UL games scheduled for the next 5 years through 2019.

We've had our share of injuries against the tougher ACC schedule; and, reporting of them has been nil from coach Petrino; so, often, we don't know until game time what is going on. QB situation is a negative; however, it should be offset by positives of Devante Parker and Michael Dyer's return to the lineup.

I always hope for a Notre Dame loss...even when playing Florida or Georgia Tech. 8)
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

ND now sits with three losses, Louisville very well be #4.
Game time will be 3:30 here, and right now the Temp is 15 degrees.

Hope the Cards pack warm. Outta be an interesting game to watch.

It's pretty cold in Louisville now too. No one in the Midwest is warm this week.

Well in the game against Boston College our normal starting QB, Will Gardner, suffered a 3rd ACL tear, same leg. He's out for what's left of the season (and maybe out of football). Backup Reggie Bonnafon is talented and has had 3 starts earlier in the season, he's more mobile, but not as experienced.

I have no idea of the talent of #3 QB who is now the backup. Hoping for the best outcome!

This has the potential of being a good game. Even records, lot of Notre Dame ties in Louisville, so you should have a good crowd. Despite the general consensus of this board, I think a lot of people would like to attend a game at Notre Dame. I like your defensive backs, especially the safety. Hoolihan..or something..maybe Hoolihan was Hot Lips on Mash, I get easily confused. Anyway..this game will be, imo, a game of coaching. Think injuries on both sides are a wash and teams are very competitive. This is where Petrino can shine. Louisville 32 - Notre Dame 21.

I don't like 'em, that's for sure . . . but don't get me wrong, that hasn't prevented me from getting a hold of tickets and attending the games from time to time (when the enemy plays, there is always the other guy to align with & root for).

Yes, I suspect this Saturday's game was a sell out long ago --- I also suspect that with today's new projection of 45 degrees (a forecast that continues to vacillate), overcast, rain mixed with snow, the likelihood of the Stadium being packed is pretty high.

There are no meager game days in South Bend ... ever when the opponents have been underwhelming (Hawaii came here to play years back), the game is usually sold out.

Ya got that right Derek, one of the few games on normal TV so I got to watch it. Stadium looked fairly full to me, lots of red as an estimated 15,000 UL fans showed up. Turned out to be a squeaker shootout which I did not suspect. Both field goal kickers have excellent records this year and both missed easy ones, maybe the rain and wet balls did affect it.

The open of the 3rd quarter was hectic with two quick TDs by each team. And, you've heard the phrase, "the luck of the Irish". Well, what was with that Brett Farve look-alike play where a toss to the end zone is batted around and then caught for a touchdown :?: Wow.

Brett did a couple of those against us when he was at Southern Miss and we played them regularly. But, I'll take that win any old way I can get it.

Now at 8-3 and facing hated rival UK in the final game. 9-3 would look good for our first ACC season and also the bonus of sending UK home without a bowl game  . And, finally our offense looks decent after being sub-par most of the season.
