Verne and Gary...pretty funny

Postby Dossenator » Mon Nov 24, 2014 12:10 pm

I cringe every time Arkansas gets the 2:30 CBS Sec time slot because I know Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson will be calling the game. For some reason Gary can never compliment the Hogs and Verne does not know what is even happening on the field much of the time (Gary is constantly correcting him).

Couple of examples:

GARY - Hogs are whipping Ole Miss 30-0 this past Saturday and all Gary can talk about is how great the Ole Miss defense is and how Arkansas was struggling all game to score on them. Hogs score on a 4th and 1 from the 1 and Gary says that was a signature defensive stop...something to hang their hat on. I was baffled. Was he not watching the same game I was? It is like this every game the Hogs play on CBS...especially if they are playing Alabama.

VERNE - a few years ago in the ARk vs Flor game Ryan Mallett completes a pass at mid field and Ark wide receiver Greg Childs runs 50 yards with the ball. Greg Childs fumbles as he is crossing the goal line and another Ark player recovers the ball in the endzone. Offical says the play in under review. Verne says I bet they are reviewing to see if it was a catch. What!!!!! He had possession of the ball for 50 yards. He has a few of these zingers every game.

Anyway, I came across this picture today and thought it was funny.

Any SEC game is a very close game between top 5 teams...they have a script.

I love that old show. My mom would not let me watch it growing up. 8)
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I loved the Dukes of Hazzard growing up. I had the general Lee and police car wind up toys and would spend hours racing them.

I was a big fan of Daisy and especially her Daisy Dukes. It was a nice fad to start IMO.
