Big Ten Coach of the Year is....
a Miss Congeniality award. Jim Tressel Was 106 and 22 at Ohio State. He won a national championship, 7 Big10 championships, and won the national coach of the year in 2002, but couldn't be voted Big10 coach of the year one time. Urban Meyer has lost to 1 Big10 team in 3 years. This year he lost a Heisman contending QB, and still led his team to a division championship and has a shot this week at a B10 championship. I have never been a huge Meyer fan. but giving the coach of the year to a coach who went 8-4 this year is a joke. Kill did a great job at Minny, but he didn't even win his division championship. The coach of the year in the big ten is a huge joke.

I would agree that Meyer should probably get it. It would be one thing if Minnesota did win their division, but going 8-4 at Minnesota isn't all that special. They are basically saying that they have the lowest possible expectations for a program like the Gophers if 8-4 is considered a miraculous job.

That is my point. If Anderson wins at Wisconsin, I could still argue, but there is an argument for him. The award now is not coach of the year. It is a good guy award. That being the case, Meyer may never win. I just wish they would change the name, because they didn't give this award to the guy who did the best job in the Big 10.
