North Texas vs. Portland State

Postby Eric » Sat Oct 10, 2015 7:48 pm

Portland State is beating North Texas 66-0 early in the 4th quarter. This is not a drill. I repeat, North Texas is losing 66-0 in the 4th quarter to FCS Portland State. Yowza.

The most points ever scored by an FCSer against an FBSer was Old Dominion versus Idaho in 2013 (although they hardly count since they were in transition and had an NFL quarteback at the helm), but this is just at another level. Largest margin of defeat ever was 32, and PSU has more than doubled that thus far. There's no way UNT is legitimately this terrible. Must have quit on Dan McCarney. Funny thing is, this is UNT's homecoming

It cost him his job as the final straw. Portland State has some good wins this year, including beating Washington State who now is everyone's hero. I think PSU is a good club and North Texas, not so much and that sums it up.

Portland State somehow lost to North Dakota last week though.

Nothing makes sense

They have already topped last year's win total too. This is a big surprise in the FCS, and has given some depth to the Big Sky. It could have been Baylor with that type of score line. I thought it was an error and had to look in a couple spots just to make sure. I'd agree the team clearly quit on the coach. Hadn't heard he was fired but that does not surprise me either. Have to do something to give the fan base some sort of hope after that debacle.

Actually, I'm hoping Miami wakes up and steals Wittingham from Utah before someone else does it.
