Memphis - Houston

Oh man ... or maybe, Omen.

The Tigers are all over the Cougars.
Memphis is executing well.
Houston is playing in panic mode.

Memphis is up 34-17 @ the Half.
Houston scores 1, Memphis scores 2.

Could this be Houston having a fatigue factor, after the emotional rush they incurred after having tossed Louisville to the side like a leftover Thanksgiving Turkey Carcass..?

Or, could this be the looming cloud overhead, with the possibility of Herman leaving, preparing for the rain to storm down with uncertainty.?.

Or, quite simply, could this be Memphis tired of hearing how great Houston is for the way they took Louisville behind the shed, mixed with the Cougars overconfidence & lack of respect they have for the Tigers?..

Whatever it is, this game is not going Houston's way. And Memphis looks to have them right where they want them.

So, will cfp members look at it this way? If Oklahoma's only loss was to Ohio State and the Sooners won the Big XII would they be in top four for a possible rematch if the Buckeyes won the Big Ten (just saying)?

Also will they look down more on Oklahoma because Memphis beat the Cougars?

The second half was a completely different story. Houston came all the way back, and even took the lead. There were 3 more lead changes after that. But in the end, Memphis just out played the Cougars.

If Houston would have shown up for the first half, this game would have gone the other way. It was their drive in the 2cnd half where they had to settle for the field goal that bit them -- although they were able to stop Memphis, and score a touchdown to take the lead -- it left the Tigers with the option to either kick a tying field goal, or take the lead by getting into the end zone.

Ultimately, that is what happened, as Memphis would go on to answer with a touchdown, taking a 4 point lead. Houston got back down the field, and scored a touchdown of their own. But, left enough time on the clock where Memphis would answer again -- as the Tigers left only 19 seconds in regulation.

Houston could do nothing, and suffered a 4 point loss.

It turned into an exciting game at the end. Just, only one team had shown up to play the whole game, and that team won.

Honestly, I do not believe this game will influence the minds of the Playoff committee one bit. The only way I see Oklahoma getting into the tournament, is if Clemson loses to South Carolina, or the ACC Title Game vs Virginia Tech -- Or if Washington loses the Pac-12 Championship game vs Colorado/usc.

Maybe, if Alabama were to drop both of their remaining games to Auburn & Florida.

The only other plausibility, is if Big Ten chaos were to ensue -- Wisconsin [who became a lock in the B1G Championship after Nebraska's loss to Iowa] losing to Minnesota, then Penn State losing to Michigan State, while Michigan goes on to beat Ohio State, but loses to Wisconsin in the Big 10 Championship.

Of course, this is assuming Oklahoma will win the Bedlam Game vs Okie State. If the Cowboys win, then the Big XII will be left out in the cold, irregardless.

If Clemson loses a game, to South Carolina or VT in CCG, I could see a push for Oklahoma to move past them....losing late can be a killer.
