They have to start somewhere and It appears the MWC is tired of being pushed around by TV. If the TV exposure is hurting your brand it doesn't make since to do it. If there isn't a net gain, then the number of dollars doesn't matter. I think that is what the MWC is saying and I agree.

So,,,,Boise State keeps getting a bump over other MWC teams....the formula was changed to stop rewarding TV appearances and more equally spread the money...except for the Boise State bonus up front...

The conference determined the formula and bonus structure was not performing as it had been intended. Now, Boise State’s membership agreement and its ESPN deal were honored, meaning the school gets $1.8 million up front annually. That’s the average bonus payout Boise State got from 2013-15 under the contract it agreed to when deciding to stay in the Mountain West. The remaining revenue will be divided among the 11 football-playing schools outside Hawaii, worth approximately $1.1 million per year, meaning a total of $2.9 million for Boise State.

Yep. Their contract was honored. Was not as much about money distribution as it breaking some East Coast Oligarchy from deciding games should start at 9:00 PM and not knowing schedules until so late people planning to actual go to a football game could make plans. But...in the end, it is indeed, always about money.
