Miami Now Under Doomsday Clock

As has been previously discussed here, the state of Miami football has been deficient Offensively for some time now. And, things have not gotten any better.

However; as of yesterday, we are in the worst possible place we could possibly be in.

Manny Diaz, who was thought of by many to be the Head Coach in waiting when Richt hired him, was announced as the Head Coach of Temple.

It's one thing to say there could be a potential future at the U for Diaz, should Richt retire in the next few years. But let's face it.

Manny Diaz is the adhesive which holds this team together. He was the brainchild of the turnover chain, and the energy that was so magnetic, that his vigor and passion excited some of the greatest defensive players in the country to join the program.

This is a major setback. Offensive commits have already been backing out. Now, with Diaz leaving, it's going to affect the team in three ways.

Incoming Defensive recruits who were thrilled to be a part of Miami's building nationally touted unit, will see the program barely treading water, and not want to get on the sinking vessel.

Juniors and RedShirt Sophomore players who may have been considering going pro now have every reason to leave.

Player development has only been strengthening on the defensive side of the ball. Diaz has everything to do with that.

Even if Miami were to hire Diaz as the Head Coach after Richt leaves, it will be hard to find anyone with the right personality to fit and match Diz's current success going forward, until that time comes.


As for the possibility of getting a new offensive mind in there to play call ... So far, Miami as slept on the decision to go forward with making the changes that have been talked about. And all of their top Offensive Coordinator targets have signed elsewhere.

This Program is on Red Alert --- and right now, there is Zero upside in sight.

Pennsylvania does not have a disclosure law for state universities...Temple is a research school so salaries are high....here is a 2016 list ....

Geoff Collins who is leaving Temple after 2 years is going to Georgia Tech. Quote "The likely annual compensation for new Georgia Tech coach Geoff Collins isn’t much of a surprise. Athletic director Todd Stansbury, asked if it was between $2.5 million and $3 million, told the AJC that “you’ll be in the neighborhood.”

I looked at some other figures and they are all over the place for Temple.
