.......I cannot help but wonder why the Group of 5 has not suggested having a ‘Playoff’ amongst the five conferences that make-up the group as opposed to UCF’s approach of crying foul while attempting to elbow their way into the Power 5 ‘Playoff’. :?

You are looking at it as those running the program care about equality and getting the best teams. Your idea works if anyone minding the store cared, but they don't. The money is just not there. And on this gloomy rainy day, I think in full disclosure the reality is the best of the group of five could not beat any of the four in this years final four. The dead horse beating is, why are they led to believe they stand a chance? That's the hypocrisy of it all.

On the West Coast, judging from the newspapers, there is the most minimal interest in this years bowl games than I have seen in a long time. The Rose Bowl will get some excitement, but not the big build up. The Rose Bowl should be a goal, not a consolation.

UCF wants to play...but not make the sacrifice needed to schedule top teams....

I have no sympathy, having travelled to Michigan's Big House, to Columbus, Lincoln, Baton Rouge..etc...without seeing Michigam, Ohio State, Nebraska, et al in Tallahassee.

Sagarin has UCF down at #18 and essentially a pick 'em with FCS North Dakota State and FBS Utah.

There is absolutely no way to know who the four best teams are, even in an 8 team playoff. If they had an 8 team playoff UCF is probably not getting in then either. The polls are manipulated to put in who they want. Right now the leave them on the edges, it would be the same in an 8 team playoff. You have some powerful fan bases pulling out there on the edges now. In a four man playoff they may grumble, but they aren't going to push it. Leave them out of the 8 team and there will be some hard grumbling. They aren't going to let UCF in very easily. You can argue if that is fair or not fair, but that is the way it is and they aren't changing unless they are forced.

I agree, Florida State did it the right way, but they also did it inside a major conference. That does make a difference. It is a hard path coming from not being a blue blood in itself like Florida State did. It is an impossible path outside a conference for any team not named Notre Dame.

I question whether it is caring or competence...... there’s evidence of a lack of both.

Doesn’t appear there’s much of an appetite at UCF for using Bobby Bowden’s PROVEN way of how to go about building a champion.

Actually...FSU did it as an independent...won its first NC the year after joining the ACC in 1992.

In 1981...FSU, as an independent, played Ohio State, Nebraska, LSU, Notre Dame, Pitt (who finished #4 AP), and Florida....all on the road.

A lot of things happened 40 years ago. Very difficult to make those kinds of schedules today. The system does not reward it so they are not made. The money does not merit it, so they are not made. The Florida State v Boise State, I think is a real anomaly.

Since Mr White balked at the notion of a 3 game contract with the Gators that would enhance UCF’s schedule, maybe he’ll consider going Independent to earn a spot.....
