Getting Down In The Weeds

Postby Mountainman » Sat Jun 18, 2022 7:30 am

Well, they’ve demonstrated their pretty good at tearing things up, so we’ll see how good they are at putting things back together……. 8)

They are under the mistaken opinion that they are still in charge.

What kind of legal authority does the NCAA have as a body? Is their authority more than an "honor system"? In other words, could a school be held legally accountable for their actions, such as being fined and not paying it?

I'm just curious as to how much actual teeth their rules have.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Don’t know what legal authority they have, although we’re learning what authority they don’t have………. and even the suggestion of any semblance of a ‘honor system’ within that association would make a cat laugh. I’m just glad to see that the BigTen, ACC and PAC12 showed some backbone and told Greg Sankey to sit down and shut the hell up. 8)

Keep an eye on the Arizona State debacle ...

I think we'll get a better idea of what sort of legislative authority the NCAA may have [or at least believe of themselves], when they finally settle a verdict on that incident.

There authority is based solely on what the schools give them. They survive solely at the discretion of the presidents.

It is true ...

Though, the people in charge at the NCAA offices were all former employees within the athletics departments of D-1 schools. In many cases, they've held AD positions at multiple programs before ending up in the swine pit.

The presidents have given latitude to the NCAA, because they are generally one and the same.

The only time something is investigated, is when something is, or was going to become, public through the media.

If the NCAA gets 86'd, the reason will be that the schools are finished with the charade that they ever cared about "infractions".

They are one in the same. The NCAA is a way to put a buffer between the presidents and the teams.

And MM is right, It absolutely is the foxes in charge of the hen house.
