Let’s Get Out Our Crystal Ball And Talk About…..

…… a Players Union. 8)

………….that a Players Union in College Football is going to happen……. some of the issues it will NEGOTIATE on behave of the players would be:

Transfer Portal
Signing Bonuses a.k.a. NIL’s
Players become employees
Players being paid all Football Activities
Players being paid for games played Post Regular Season
Medical Care
Longterm Medical Care
Off Season Training and Conditioning
In Season Training and Conditioning

Now, what I've been saying, is the players should unionize ...

And hold espn's nuts to the flame.

If espn is going to be the sole contractor for the SEC, then the players of the SEC should negotiate that espn be partially responsible for salary options.

They should negotiate fair and balanced pay, across league and position. Whereas NIL can then build a player's personal brand.

Then, a unionized player coalition across all SEC sports, should formally petition for equal pay.

Let's see how espn holds up to their own scrutiny with regards to "Female Sports" paying out as much as "Male Sports".

I mean, if espn is the solitary license to the SEC, wouldn't it be fair to hold them as responsible as the NFL is, with regards to the NFC & AFC ..?

If they get paid by the schools -NIL is very different from that- it will be over. Right now cfb is a revenue stream for some schools. Very few schools make money on most sports. Football and basketball fund all of the others. Start pulling money from them and it all goes away.

I’ve wondered and thought about the “why’s” these Conference Commissioners would do the things that have been done, like secretly colluding with 3rd parties to raid other conferences of their members. Was it simply because they could, was it just greed, was it the money, was it despise of the NCAA, etc, etc, etc. Or did they see the probability that the players were going to eventually organize into a Union and somebody is going to have to pay….. 8)

I think it all has to do with keeping up.

Absolutely……. the TV guys have a Pot of Gold, and they’re willing to spread it around for ‘Quality Programing’. And I can say they’ll share more gold for Ohio State vs Southern Cal than they will for Ohio State vs Rutgers.

………… but there are some consequences and ‘risks’ involved.

I agree. I don't care who is in the B1G. I just think it should make sense. I think with everything that has happened; they have done more to eliminate the sport than to build it up. It seems to me that college football isn't going to be college football any more. I think that is a shame.

Btw……. I just read where Texas Tech is going to pay $25000.00 per year to 100 players, 85 Scollies and 15 walk-ones on the Red Raiders roster. All players remain eligible to receive addition NIL dollars from other sources. 8) 8) 8)

Every time I look into the Crystal Ball I’m beginning to see the Four Horsemen riding a white, red, black, and a pale horse coming into focus…….. :|

Appears Greg Sankey, with his covert, underhandedness and willingness to shamelessly attempt to destroy a conference has awaken and bitten off more BIGTEN than he can chew….. couldn’t happen to a more deserving SOB 8)

I'm not sure the B1G is right in what they are doing either. They did capture nearly every big media market in the US by doing it. Stealing Texas and Texas A&M would give them all of it. The end game is only about money, not that it always hasn't been, but they may be sorry. When you start throwing around the B word in terms of cash the players are going to take notice and they will absolutely want their cut. I can't blame them. I am not for the schools paying the players. As a golf coach who trys to get his players scholarships, I know if money goes to pay football players, that will mean less money for golfers. After all, golf doesn't generate any revenue for the schools. Zero. It is a money drain. These are the college programs that are going to suffer from all of this. Kids who are getting scholarships for golf, archery, tennis, cross country, swimming, track, and other non revenue sports.
