It’s a Seller’s Market……. and there’s a third party involved in these ‘Agents’ promoting, marketing and selling these players. I suspect many of the numbers we’re hearing and reading about are being ‘leaked’ by ‘Agents’ trying to set the market and gain for themselves a larger fee. They simply ‘leak’ it out or call up some ‘sportswriter’ who gets paid by some ‘publisher’ who gets paid by ‘breaking the story’ whether it’s true or not.

As much as I’ve supported and enjoyed College Athletics in the past, it’s developing a stench that smells more and more like Skunk Piss every day.

I agree. It is not really on the player. They have some guy whispering in their ear that school a doesn't care about them anymore or they would pay him like they did and this other school really wants them and are ready to pony up the money to show him. This isn't the NFL model free agency. It is the MLB model and it has no ceiling until only a few teams can compete.

that's a very plausible theory. Reminds me of the housing market last year.

"Yeah, well that guy down the street paid 2 million for that house and it's only 2500 sq ft...mine is 5000, so that's at least 5 million"

…….. agents aren’t the only issue, ‘Boosters’ are free to pay players anything they want to. At this point, paying players is wide open. It’s simply considered part of the players Name, Image and Likeness Value. Sure seems everything in and around College Athletics is FOR SALE.
