Conference Champs……. Ho Hum, So What, No Big Deal…..

Postby Mountainman » Sat Jan 18, 2025 11:02 am

…….. appears it just a matter of time, and of course, the money. Appears as if ‘The Powers That Be’ are scheming to give College Football a facelift and boob job.

SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!!!

Maybe they're serious about this, however, this seems to be a CBS agenda driven perspective.

They have been all over social media spearheading the idea to get rid of Conference Title games for months.

The rhetoric started for it a couple of years ago.

I'm not sure if it is insider knowledge, leaking info. Or if this has been CBS trying to get their change to the sport that they particularly want, in order to prove they are still relevant.

I think you’re spot on…….. I view these type of ‘breaking news’ as nothing more than a ‘Trial Balloon’ that’s ‘leaking’ whats already happened and going on in all their Closed Door Meetings and private conversations to the public and gauge the reaction to the direction and changes under consideration.

These change agents know they’ve got to keep the ‘fans in the stands’ and ‘viewers watching TV’, else the value and pot of gold they bring will be like a Margaret Mitchell Novel….. ‘Gone With The Wind’.

The bad thing about getting rid of the championship games is that it gives the committee more freedom to elevate teams who pass the "eye test" meaning they can put a brand in over a team like Indiana or SMU. I am against anything that gives more power to the committee and makes the process more and more subjective.

I will always believe that you should be a conference champ to be in. Problem is that there isn’t 8 conferences anymore.
