Changed my pick to Iowa St with just over an hour and a half left before the start of the game ...
It had to do with the Wildcats Offensive Package was going to lean on their running attack, and the Cyclones having a return of all the Linebacker Corp from last season.
Last year, ISU had virtually every LB out for the majority of the schedule. They were down to walkon and red shirt freshmen stepping in.
Today, they have 12 returning LB's suited up with starting experience. Now that's ridiculous depth.
What I did not expect, was Edwards going out for Kansas St.
That is going to hinder their running game, and without much of a pass threat, the team is gonna ride Jackson's shoulders.
Can he carry them the whole way, though? Especially in that soggy weather?

The game is physical……. the weather and field conditions are keeping it pretty much nose to nose and mango man. Turnovers, mistakes and the kicking game will tell that tale. After this one there’s going to be guys on both teams lined-up in the Trainer’s Room and the Whirlpools.

Yeah, that was rough ...
It would have had to stand, regardless of which way they called it.
ISU going for it on 4th was smart. The Wildcats scored too quickly on their last drive. And it worked out for the best that he didn't cross the goal line.
Both QB's led their receivers quite a bit. Maybe first game rust. Maybe something to watch out for going forward.
The rain made things limited in what these teams could do out there, today.
Fun game for a start to the season.
Grit to the end.

Hey Spence………. I wasn’t going to remind Cane that Iowa State was four for four on fourth down conversations while K-State was 0 for 3 on their 4th down tries, and that K-State lost their starting Tailback early in the game during a punt return.
So Shhhhhhh……..

From my initial post during the game

And early is an understatement.
It was the first punt of the game, off of ISU's first drive of the game. And they started with the ball.
You really gotta feel for the kid.
The first time he steps out onto the field for a play in the first game of the regular season, he muffs the catch on the punt, getting injured and not returning.
That's a tough one.
