Tough loss for Ohio State.....just never were in it.....but...a whole lot of schools never had the chance......

Congratulations to the Gators, hats off to them ..... National Champs in both men's major sports in the same year. Has that ever been done before?

The Buckeyes didn't have to shabby of a year either .... there's 117 college football teams and geeez, I'm not sure how many there are, but 300 and some college basketball teams that would have loved to accomplished what they did this year.

Nope they hold that distinction all to themselves.

It is a shame that Ohio State couldn't get anything going from the perimeter. Oden played a break out game. He handled three guys in the paint all night, but Ohio State couldn't make anything from long range and Humphrey and Brewer scored at will from out there. Credit Donovan's game plan and some really good basketball players. It just wasn't the Buckeye's year.

The thing that bugs me is if the three pointers aren't dropping, you can't continue to shoot them. If they split half of those three pointers and turn those into two pointers to Oden, they're hanging around in the game. They only lost by 9 points and they missed like 16 three pointers.

Kellog and Davis, you can't rely on the "law of averages" to save your butt in a national championship game. When a pitcher's curveball isn't working in one game and he keeps hanging them down the middle of the plate, he's not going to continue to use that pitch. That didn't make any sense at all

You can't really change what kind of team you are though. I think they went inside about as much as they could.

Well, wasn't that Coach Donovan's game plan for the Gators .... rotate 3 guys on Oden and belly-up on the perimeter on the defensive end and then let Humphrey and Brewer shoot the perimeter on the offensive end?

I don't know much about basketball, but that's what I saw going on.

It was. His thought was to rotate three guys on Oden and wear him down. Then he would get into foul trouble. That part didn't work, but I don't know how anyone could ask Oden to do anymore then he did. I think if Ohio State would have gotten normal production from Butler, Lewis, and Harris they could have made it close. Of course part of the reason they didn't get normal production from those guys is that they were busting their gut trying to defend Florida.

I have no problem with how the B-ball team played. They left it all out on the field. Sometimes you play your heart out and the other team is just better. I think that is what happened last night. If Ohio State plays Florida in a best of seven series, Florida would probably win 4-2.

Losing sucks, but when you give it all you have and lose, it is nothing to be embarassed about.

Conley said he is coming back. That is a huge deal for Ohio State. If Oden comes back (which is unlikely) Ohio State would have him playing center along side Kosta Koufos, a five star power forward from Canton. He is 7-2 and can shoot from the outside. He isn't the shot blocker that Oden is, but if Oden comes back, he would be the missing piece for Ohio State to be a favorite to get to the final four next year.

I don't watch enough basketball to know much about anyone other then Ohio State, so I can't compare there team with anyone. But I would think having a 7-0 center and a 7-2 power forward along with Conley and Butler, that Ohio State would be pretty good. Even better then this year.

I could see that Oden wanted to win the national title game. I didn't exactly see that from him all year long. I think he can play with that kind of intensity night-in and night-out if he wanted too. Maybe with the pain of getting there and falling short, Oden will stay for another go-around. I've heard that he likes school and it might be a possibility that he will stay.

I think he would struggle if he plays in the NBA next season. I'm assuming that he's going to declare for the draft though. I'd give him until year 2 in the NBA before he becomes a real factor. Oden won't be the only 7 footer in the pros. The guy is going to be awesome once he fully develops.

So, when it's said and done, the national championship game would be like a Lakers/Mavericks game. If Kobe Bryant would score 45 points and they lose by 16, there's not much more that he can do.

I'm pretty sure Oden is gone. He may not be quite ready, but they are going to make him the number 1 pick whenever he comes out. Personally I think it would be foolish for him to stay. No harm in hoping he stays though.
