Piracy

Postby WoVeU » Mon Apr 13, 2009 12:10 am

This crap is working on me. When are we going to take some serious steps against ship piracy? And are we going to do it with some kind of basic sense?

These likelihoods were found after 911, for all transportation including rail, ship, and bus. It would seem the most simple solution that is economical would be to put 4 to 7 crewmen on ships that are ex-sailors and marines. One stands watch all the time and the others can take on other crew roles. Convert 2 life-rafts to pursuit-gunner boats and put a small cannon and/or chain gun on the boat. At least for boats that cruise well outside US waters.

I'd like to say bravo to the US Navy and the Seals for putting the hurt on those clowns today! I'd have loved to seen the look in that 4th pirates eyes when his brethren got dropped like tater sacks!!!

The real test will be what we do with the fourth guy. That will tell you something about how we are going to treat these situations.

Actually, I think it says a lot about our armed forces that the guy was captured. It speaks to their sense of right and wrong. The opportunity to not capture anyone was there, they did their job. That tells me that these men are the men we want protecting our country and our interests around the world. I would hope that our leaders learn something from these men. It would be nice to have a government full of people who do what is right no matter the political cost. To do what is right because it is right.

Those guys could have taken the law into their own hands. They didn't, they did what needed to be done to save the captain's life and no more. Lots of people with that kind of opportunity do not react in that manner.

Furthermore, in this scenario most good outcomes hang on killing all of the enemy. Usually leaving a man alive or not seriously wounded is a liability. Those guys were about as wrapped around the hostage as you can be. I haven't got all of the story yet, don't think it is credibly out there that I have seen, but I think the guy that survived was on the Navy ship negotiating and I think the other 3 were trying to look and see what was going on at the ship or if the 4th guy was coming back. Oops.

But we got 1 guy who now gets to do a whole lot more "telling like he wants to!" And being the guy negotiating he'll have more merit to throw in how he was wanting a peaceful outcome and took measures including risking himself to keep the hostage alive.

I just saw that another ship has been hijacked! Why do I get the feeling we are going to end back in Somalia in the future?

The skill/accuracy of shooting that it took to pull these head shots off, while the deck was pitching etc.., should not be lost on ANYONE.

OR for that matter, any world leaders that think the US is weak.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Never lost on me! That is a rough shot if it is a coconut you are shooting, let a lone a man with another man's life in his hands. And in that pitch...you have to have really good timing!
