How Bad is Washington State?

Postby Eric » Sat Sep 11, 2010 10:09 pm

I'm sorry, Montana State is marching and needs a field goal to win. Approaching within a minute, ball on the 25 yard line ---- And as I'm typing this, Washington State just picked off a tipped pass to take it back down. And they're celebrating.

Let's see, just who is the Pac-10 team here? And while we're talking about Montana State, do you think the WAC would like to have both Montana and Montana State if they have to add teams in the future?

They are lucky they aren't playing Montana!

I think the PAC-10 and the BCS Conferences in general wouldn't take a Montana because of TV market. I am rather sure Montana is better than Washington St.!

Well would the WAC though? The general thought out there is that the WAC has to expand somewhat because of their losing Fresno State and Nevada and the likely departure of Louisiana Tech going to C-USA or the Sun Belt. So that would leave: Hawaii, New Mexico State, Utah State, Idaho, and San Jose State. So that means they will have to add 3 teams minimum to field an 8-team conference. So I would assume those teams would come down to Weber State, UC Davis, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Montana, Eastern Washington, Montana State, and Cal Poly. My pick from this field is UC Davis, Cal Poly, Montana, and the 4th team I have no clue.

Thanks to a horrible call, too. The player was out of bounds with 1 second on the clock and officials didn't review the time after the play.

The WAC they could do easy. In your scenario, they'd take Montana for sure and one of UC Davis or Cal Poly. I'd have to wonder about Portland St or some others breaking up entering 2 Montana teams (market) and 2 So. Cal teams. (I think they are both in Southern Cal.)

But I really think Montana pulls a Marshall in that scenario and just runs rough shod in 2 years!

I would think if you bring Montana and you are still looking for more that Montana State just makes the most sense. After that I'd look to the Dakotas. I have a feeling that area of the country would like to have a FBS team.
