One thing that I don't like in the Jimbo regime (opposed to Mickey Andrew's way) is that Jimbo allows no tackling in practice...just "wrap 'em ups". This cuts down on injury's versus Mickey's "knock the snot out of 'em" practices.
In a first game against a BCS opponent, the kids looked like kids who had not been tackling. I'd rather lose a few to injury then have your first real tackle attempt be against a top notch running back or wide receiver.

I agree. Ohio State did that early on with Tressel, they gave it up later. Nothing replaces contact in practice.

Not tackling in practice is something you can maybe get away with for a couple of weeks after week 9 or so...and not the week of a bye!

VT did lead the team now ranked #3 into the final minute and a half and played at the same level and could have won. North Carolina, missing a bunch of their team, schooled LSU in the passing game and, except for two dropped passes in the end zone, would have won in Baton Rouge. Cincinatti did just lose to a lower level NC State by 21 points.
Sure, WVU is ranked...but they also barely excaped from Marshall in OT.
The ACC has to be considered several notches above the Big East. The Big Easy might have what, 2 top 40 teams, perhaps 3. The ACC has to be better than that. But as games go on I am impressed with with many BCS teams. I think the MW is better than the Big Easy. I also think the PAC-10 might only have 3 or 4 good teams. And the Big-12 hasn't really demonstrated much. Very early, and things often look this shoddy, but I'd have to say TV Land has it's dream come true this year, the Big 10 and the SEC look to be the class of the field! (Now if they could on;y get USC to count, and Notre Dame to matter!!!!)
