Re: #12 Ark vs Georgia (Week 3)
Arkansas almost gave that game away in the 4th quarter. The crowd got loud, Georgia pushed Ark's buttons and got some penalties, Ark panicked a little, and Georgia completely a deep pass on each of it's last two TD drives late in the 4th quarter. Also, where were the holding calls on the Georgia offensive line on that last TD drive (should have been called a couple of times...so frustrating when it is so obvious).
Other than the two TD drives in the 4th quarter (which is a concern), Ark's defense looked good again. Mallett looked great again....380 yards, and 3 TD's. That last TD drive was AWESOME (if your a Hog fan).
Maybe the road monkey if off their backs. Ark had lost their last 7 SEC road games. This was a big win....bring on Bama.

I don't usually rag on the officials, but when the announcers even point out the holding calls getting ignored, it does make you wonder. A win is a win, but we should have put them away. Will take a better effort next week against Bama.

Would be a very difficult ticket to get. I will stay home and watch it on CBS next week. I am going to the Ark vs So Carolina game in November though.GoBoilers wrote:Razor, ya wanna go on the "spur" of the moment. Can we get tics? 2 of course. I smell an upset!

Nice time of year! Surely a man of your stature can call in some markers!

GB, you know Razor is a Par-4 guy, not a MAC-10 guy! This late, you'd have to have Gotti like connections just to get in the parking lot!

Razor used to know a hit guy when he lived in Iowa. Going to watch the Hawgs would be fun but, a litle tricky with this short of time. I see where he is going to watch Ark@SC the same weekend I am going to watch Wisky @ Purdue. Guess that is enough $$$ to waste-in my case to see a loss. I fully expect Ark to beat SC.

I would've loved to be at a Sports Bar in Arkansas yesterday, I bet the places exploded...probably a plethora of high fives were given out and most of the bars had record profits!

Re: #12 Ark vs Georgia (Week 3)
Bama's defense has not been tested thus far. They have got the job done but have not looked dominate like last year. In fact, Bama has not been getting to the oppossing QB. Here is how the Bama vs Ark dlines have done the past 2 games.
Bama: 8th nationally in total defense, 115th nationally in TFL, and 112th nationally in sacks
vs Penn State: 5 QB hurries, 0 sacks
vs Duke: 6 QB hurries, 1 sack
Ark: 9th nationally in total defense, 4th nationally in TFL, and 4th nationally in sacks
vs ULM: 11 QB hurries, 4 sacks
vs Georgia: 13 QB hurries, 6 sacks
So far, Ark has been putting pressure on the opposing QB's and getting sacks with just their 4 down lineman....not many blitzes thus far. That is key with Ark's shaky secondary. Jones and Maze for Bama will find open spots...it is crucial that McElroy not have enough time to get them the ball. And Ark must wrap up the RB's when they tackle....no arm tackles on these guys. Hit hard, wrap up, and everyone swarm to the ball.
If Bama can not get pressure on Mallett then their young and inexperienced DB's will be tested. Ark will have players open....if Mallett is kept relatively clean, and given time, then I think the Hogs score quite a few points.

I wouldn't put too much on numbers this early...after all FSU leads the country in sacks and tackles for a loss. And it means nada.

Re: #12 Ark vs Georgia (Week 3)
I agree Billybud. I just don't see Bama as this unstoppable force. They almost lost to Tenn and Auburn last year with veteran defensive players (many of them in the NFL this year...with several of them starting as rookies). Bama lost 13 three year defensive players, and 10 of those 13 were starters. Yes, they have talent but I don't think you can just plug new guys in and expect them to perform at the same level as last years defense. If Saban can in fact do that then I don't see Bama EVER losing a game.
Did anyone watch the series about Bama's practices...it was on ESPN. I think it was called Alabama All Access. Anyway, it was on before the season started. ESPN went to the Saban household and interviewed Nick's family. They asked Nick's wife where the coach was at....she said something along the lines of "he is studying Arkansas film right now". This was several weeks before the start of the season. I thought...Wow, Saban knows this will be the first big test for his young defense....their first SEC road game. And the environment will definitely be hostile.
What knew schemes have Petrino and Saban have prepared for one another?
And here's a little something for those Alabama fans out there....a little Sweet Home Alabama (sang by one of their very own):

Re: #12 Ark vs Georgia (Week 3)
Penn State isn't good. I'm not saying really bad, mostly just really inexperienced. I thought Alabama would school the young QB and have a short field on offense the whole game. While Alabama didn't have any problems with Penn State they didn't trounce the young QB. That may have been Saban not showing anything he didn't need to show or that may mean the Bama D isn't quite as good as expected. One thing for certain is that Bama offense is impressive. The can make any game a ball controll game and that makes it tough on a teams that make their money in the air. Meaning that if you punt three or four times, you will probably lose the game.

Re: #12 Ark vs Georgia (Week 3)
It can be a double edged sword, but with two guys like Bama has, they can easily be fresh the whole game. Being able to strike quick is good, but being able to keep a teams defense on field for eight to nine minutes a quarter can neutralize anything else. I think Bama has that kind of offense and to have that sort of offense is most coaches dream. It also makes an average defense better because they don't have to play much more than 10 minutes a game.

Re: #12 Ark vs Georgia (Week 3)
Good game by Arkansas, and yes they almost gave it away. The 4th quarter gives me hope for Murray's future. He's just simply not ready for prime time yet.
I don't really see how Richt is not in the hot seat now, the grumblings are only going to get louder. They, and not many other teams in the country, can run the SEC gauntlet like we have lined up and not come away with 1 more loss. If they beat Florida though....the 2 losses will be forgiven.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.
